Miles Expired

I have 20,000 miles to expire this year. How could I have my miles extended as I don't want toose them. I plan to travel to Europe next year hoping to accrue more miles. I have no miles from credit card.

Your answer depends on the airline.

For example, AA's expiration timer resets if you accure or use miles for any reason. You could redeem 500 miles for magazines through milepoint.com, or send flowers through theflowerclub and earn a few hundred miles.

With what airline do you have the miles?

...and if your 20,000 miles are on one specific airline, you would fare much better asking your question in the specific FlyerTalk forum of that airline, as there are experienced travelers who can give you clear, concise answers to your question. Often, you will find answers to your question that you may not have even realized existed!

Once you post on which airline you have the 20,000 miles (assuming it is only one airline), one of the moderators of this forum will move this thread to that specific forum for your convenience.

Depending on the airline, sign up for IDine. Spend a couple of bucks for lunch, charge it on your credit card and the miles appear in a few weeks. Cheap way to keep the account active.

Of course, that works well for people who are either based in the US or have easy access to restaurants in the US. The poster asking the question does not appear to be in the US.

As others have already said, the answer depends on the airline, and is likely better asked in that airline's forum.

Another good way to keep miles from expiring, regardless of the airline, is to deposit 1000 miles into the account every three years (or whatever the airline expiration period is) through credit card transfers such as from American Express "Member Rewards" or Diners Club.

If you want to sign up for the Diners Club card, here is a link:

Do you have any friends or family in the states. If so, they may be willing to put their credit card on your FF iDine program. They could have a $5 meal, then switch it out. Best if you open the account with one of your credit cards and then they could add theirs.
