Darn good offer.

4 p.m. late check-out.

Those are MAGIC words.

The number of times that has been a lifesaver over the 20 years I've had as a Starwood Gold, I can't count. 4pm is automatic, and they will thus almost always OK 5 or 6pm if you ask nicely, and when you have a It'l 9pm flight, and have been out doing things all day, and want to come back, shower, grab your bags and leave, it saves the "half day" charge, which is often around $100 with taxes at many Starwoods.

Good offer for people who otherwise wouldn't have SPG Gold but,

I really feel sorry for people who actually stay to earn SPG gold. Now the level's basically worth NOTHING! (phone SPG, quote some code and voila! you're Gold!)

This probably means it's impossible to get any kind of upgrade at many hotels now...

Here's a link refering to Starwood: http://www.nwa.com/club/starwood.shtml

I'd like to know how long the Gold status lasts. The info says the offer is good from April to September, but is this the window of time you can enroll or does the Gold membership only last until September?

Yes, I believe so.

I think it costs something like $20.00. Then as a member you get discounts on Northwest flights etc.

I used it to save 2,000 miles (twice) as opposed to 1,000 miles when I booked my reward.

I may use the $25.00 off coupon on a NWA flight as well.

Actually, it costs $35. And I just found out that if you upgrade to Gold, the Gold membership only lasts until September 2001.

Some of us did enroll last year at the introductory rate of $20, but then the rate did go up to $35 a short time later.

Have anyone tried to get the Starwood GOLD membership without being a NWA.com member? Any success?

If you sign up for an AMEX Starwood affinity card (no annual fee), you will automatically be upgraded to Gold.
