olymp still good but you have to call

I just called AA and the OLYMP bonus was put in manually. When I tried the automatic, it says it is no longer in effect, but it can be done. She didn't know if it had to be done each flight. For those new to this it is the SPORTS FEDERATION BONUS. It is 500 miles per pair of segments with American Airlines. As I said you need to speak with someone because it isn't working by phone. Glad I remembered before I fly off in a couple of hours.

Has anybody actually received this bonus this year? I called the EP desk and they called someone and was informed that this promo was extended to 12/31/99 and is not available. She said she could force the code into the record but I would not receive miles because it is not available. I asked her to put in the codes anyway. I have 11 segments coming up. If it does work I missed out on 31 segments this year by not having the code in the records.

I called the AA gold desk and tried to re-register for this promotion. I was transferred to AAdvantage customer service, where the agent checked the record. He found that the promotion was still ongoing, and that my registration from 1999 was still active. I told him about the post on this board telling me to re-register. He tried to re-register me, but the computer "bounced" it, saying I was already registered! I flew SAN/SAT/SAN this weekend. Will post here in a few days as to whether I got 500 miles, 1000 miles, or none at all!

I was also told by AA customer service that my signup last year was still valid.

AA has a problem here. I was registered last year and received a number of 500 mile bonuses. I have received none this year. I tried to re-register by phone by got bounced. Called AA customer service and re-registered....still no miles. I think this one is over.

Unfortunately, it appears that MileKing is right. I spoke with AAdvantage customer service today regarding my trip last weekend (SAN/DFW/SAT/DFW/SAN), since no Sports Federation bonus miles had been posted. Agent named Burton checked and said the promotion did end 12/31/99. He was kind enough to post 1000 miles as a "customer service bonus", since I was misinformed by an agent before that trip that the promotion carried into 2000, and that my registration was still valid. Thank you to Burton; too bad this one is over - we got many bonus miles on it during 1999.

I will post this on the AA board as well.

Well I found out that this offer is considered as having expired 12/31/99 even though the rep re-entered it. So, it's over. Too bad! Sorry for the misinformation. I called customer service and the gal agree to give me 500 for my trouble, but it really is over.
