Flying AS on NW FF Award
I have quite a few NW miles to unload, and would like to redeem them for travel on AS. Any idea what class of service NW WorldPerks desk would book for an award on AS (ie. SEA-SJD)?
Second part of the question, would that AS ticket be upgradeable w/ AS MVP/G status (hence the first question)?
Cheers,
-Steve

Although I can't answer your question directly (knowing you can moderate me out of existence
.... the AS fare bucket vs. what NW sees in their system may be 2 different things. So while the AS award may come out of W (I'm not sure if it does or doesn't), NW may either have a different bucket to take it out of, or at least it may be called something else in their system.
If you have a ton of miles, I don't know how good/bad the NW redemption rates are for AS, but it is usually easier to get a saver F award than a saver Y award, historically.

It's been my experience that the award inventory AS offers to its members is the same inventory offered to NW (and AA), except for inventory reserved for AS elites, if any.
Award travel in economy class on AS is booked in W class.

As keithguy said... All saver award inventory comes out of W.
As an MVP Gold, you may reserve a *paid* ($50 per 1250 miles) upgrade once your coach award has been ticketed.

I'm on a NW J award SEA-SFO-AMS-BCN and back. When I booked the award, the agent told me I would be in Y on the AS segment and that it was in a class that I could not upgrade using a cert. I just looked at my itin online and it says "Class of service: First" for that flight but no seating info.
I wonder if the agent was wrong, or the itin is wrong?
