Baggage weight allowance Canada to USA (AC vs. AA)

I know speciffically about N.Y. airports to YYZ.
AC is the old 70 pounds per bag.
But AA limits it to 50 pounds.

Basically it seems that AA has a 50 pound limit on domestic including canada.
So I guess this is one upside for AC.

One pointer: although they sometimes weigh the bag at YYZ, considering that customs is cleared before the flight and you take the bags with you, you could stuff a carry-on bag and transfer it after going through check in before giving the bags in!!

UA is also 50 lbs for US domestic -- it has been like this for the past year.

The other upside for AC (or SEs, at least) is the ability to check 4 pieces. I once "checked" an entire navigation system for a naval destoyer. He he... if they only knew.

Also be aware that AA (and others) have instituted a new size restriction as well.

The length+width+height on AA is now only 62 inches, eliminating the largest of the large
pullman bags.

The policies on the US carriers have nothing to do with weight restrictions. They just figured that they can fleece the travelling public for more money. And AA instituted this change just about 2 weeks before Christmas last year and not one word was posted to any FF members.

Basically you're allowed up to 50lbs. Between 51-70lbs, you're charged $25, I think. Above 70lbs, your bag would have to go as "cargo". You're allowed a max of 2 checked bags and 1 carryon or 3 checked bags and no carryon. Each additional piece of checked bag costs an extra $50 or $75.
