AC to lay off 317 pilots

Major changes coming.

1 Aug the 747 fleet starts to be grounded. Some of these pilots are expected to bump 343 pilots and the ripple effects continues down the fleet.

Add to that the expected report on merged ex CP and AC seniority list and you have major disruptions in the pilot world.

Not a good scenario for the ratification vote.

Nice to know that the babies up front, I mean Air Canada pilots, haven't changed their tune over the years. Quote from article:

"Keller's ruling had been expected before the bid list was released. But it was delayed in a storm of controversy last week after union officials representing Air Canada pilots walked out of meetings with him over concerns his award would favour the former Canadian Airlines pilots, whose ailing airline was merged with Air Canada in January, 2000."

One of the 744s is already out of the fleet (FIN381). The remaining 2 744s will be doing YVR/NRT and YVR/YYZ for the rest of the summer sked.
