E benefits b4 March 1st

E benefits b4 March 1st
A relative of mine is booked for a flight Feb 28. He was a basic member until now, but has qualified for E status for the year 2002. He probably will have 3 or 4 bags to check in, something that E's can do without any charge. Will they allow him to do this, or will they refuse him E benefis becuase it's before Mar 1st?
Same question regarding lounge access.
On the telephone system and on-line he is listed as E.

I just got my Elite card last week after qualifying for the first time for 2002. Since mid-January I've had no problems getting Elite "benefits" based only on my status in the system.
I've used Elite-only upgrade certs, phoned the Elite Aeroplan number, taken the family into the MLL, etc. At the airport everyone just looks at the boarding pass for status. I don't think there will be a problem.

If the booking was made before they became Elite have res re-input the AP number to have it show up with the new status - this will simplify things at the airport.
