Amex Membership Rewards US vs CDN
I'm moving to Canada, and just wondering if I should cash out my US Amex points, before getting a CDN Amex account. The rep I spoke with last night said the points would be transferred straight across, and the award levels are "similar". Any thoughts?

I believe you can transfer to more carriers than we can. Only choice here is DL or CO. Also, the credits used towards the purchase of an airline ticket are lower in Canada. You might also want to consider factoring in the relative values of the dollar. Cdn Amex Rewards points are actually worth 50% more than US ones, since we get 1 point for every C$1, and those can be transferred into 1 mile in either of the two respective FF programs.

As far as I know Canadian credit cards reward 1 mile per CAD spent - making Canadians some of the most fortunate people when it comes to reward credit cards.
Americans get 1 mile per 1 US and Danes get 1 mile per 1,25US.

Even better value for money is 1 point for USD$0.45 for NZ residents of QF FF program. Especially as QF is about to switch from a Km to miles basis, Australians get them for $0.52
