CPlus Transfer to Aeroplan

Does anyone know if ex Canadian Plus EP/Gold members will still get the 10% Q-miles legacy bonus, the 50/100% bonus after qualification until Feb 28, 2001 and be able to use the CP upgrade stickers accumulated this year or have to use the ones sent with new Aeroplan Cards (if any)?

Interesting question... I would love to know the answer too. I would suppose that the upgrade stickers can still be used until they expires as there will still be CP operated flights until who knows when... I doubt that we'll still get the 50%/100% Loyalty bonus after Dec 31 and that legacy bonus is probably a long shot since it's probably too complicated for the computer to apply 2 sets of rules when we are all Aeroplan members.

Both the legacy and loyalty bonuses are in this years EP handbook, which was issued after the start of the AC takeover, but as we know things can change without much notice....

Aeroplan used to have some form of bonus miles after reaching requalification, but they used to be 5K or 10K bonuses matching each 5K or 10K Q-miles earned after requalifying for Elite. It's been a while ago since I was AC Elite, but maybe one of our Aeroplan Es or SEs could enlighten us on this. I know they never had the Legacy Bonus, though.

Aeroplan matches each Q-mile in 10,000 mile increments after reaching 50,000.

The threshold bonuses are as follows:

5000 @35000 Q,
10000 @50000 Q & every 10000 Q thereafter;

additional bonus (on top of 10K bonus) of 25K at 100000 Q and 35K at 150000 Q
(which works out to a cumulative 90K bonus for all 100K if you minimally requalify for SE)

(also one any fare companion ticket at 60000 Q miles)

My guess is that if pushed, they'd gladly add the legacy bonus points to your C+ account sometime in February, 2001, as usual.

BTW, for those who didn't know (ACers, mostly) the Legacy Bonus points (10,000 this year, in my case) are actually Q-miles (Q-points?).

I would anticipate that stuff ending at the end of the calandar year; with the exception of CP upgrades, which we seem to have been repeatedly assured will remain valid until either they expire, or the carrier is ascimilated; whichever comes first.

Just received an undated letter from Cdn+ which confirms the following:

"1999 Canadian Plus Upgrade Stickers

"You may continue to use your 1999 Canadian Plus upgrade stickers. These stickers are valid only on Canadian Airlines operated flights which, after the reservation system migration, will be coded as Air Canada flight numbers (AC3000-AC3999 or AC8300-AC8697). Please note that the 1999 upgrade stickers will be valid only for travel up to and including December 31, 2000."

So just two months and a week to make use of any lingering Ultimates, not to mention those Greys and Reds!

Thanks for clarifying this for us Shareholder... I think this is the last of the "any fare" upgrades.
