United's Latest Int'l Upgrade Promotion
I received the postcard in the mail last week that stated that you can earn an upgrade system wide by flying int'l with UA between the end of Feb and beginning of April.
I am heading to Sydney (and writing this in the LAX AA Biz Class Lounge) so I almost booked with UA. But upon reading the small print, no Saturday layovers are allowed.
Now how stupid is that for an Int'l promotion? Not only did UA lost my $8,200 for this flight, this was the straw that broke the camel's back for me, I've given up on the village idiots.
Wondering if anyone else had the same reaction as I.

I've flown many international trips without a Saturday Night stay when I was flying for business on a regular basis. They are going after the business traveler with these fares, they don't want to upgrade an entire family to the front of the plane because they visited their auntie for a weekend in London.
So instead of spending the money with them, you spent it with another airline that wasn't giving free upgrades either?

If you go into the United Forum, you will find a thread that is discussing this promotion.
