Media Interview: Have you ever been upgraded to the "Presidential Suite" as part of your e

We're helping a major publication with interviews with members of various hotel guest programs that have been upgraded to the "Presidential Suite" during a stay. Questions are: how you did it and what was it like? Seems to be elite status related, but it may be that some of you "smoozed" your way to the top.

Would it still count if they didn't put you in the Presidential Suite, but instead sent up Monica Lewinsky with a box of cigars?

I'd be interested to hear if anyone has actually been able to swing this feat...

LOL. Uhh, v3--in case you didn't notice, the original poster here was Randy Petersen. Methinks Randy can post just about anywhere he pleases, since he be the owner of the FlyerTalk board, and our patron saint. A newbie can be excused for not realizing this.

"as part of your elite status?" yes, its in the right place.

Once at a very nice but not superluxury hotel I had a fantastic suite called the "presidential suite" because of my SPG Platinum status. It was already preassigned upon my arrival. No schmoozing. It was an excellent room although a few things were dated and not all the electric drapes worked perfectly. The bathroom, with separate decent jacuzzi tub, large shower stall with spray up all sides of the walls, bidet (I skipped that one), and what not, was fantastic.

At the Del Coronado we once got the Presidential Suite. Our CFOs wife used to be a concierge there and she said practically every U.S. President since the 30 had stayed there.

A few years back, at the Singapore Shangri-La, I was given the suite that President Bush (41) had used. I did not schmooze it, but I was A Golden Circle member. They were beautiful rooms, by the way.

Fairmont San Francisco, one of our colleauges got the presidential suite on a standard room booking

Comment by check in was

- Hotel was FULLY booked
- He was a one night stay
- He was checking in at 1AM and had a confirmed booking
- No other rooms were available
- We had a CONFIRMED 60 room, room block for a meeting

We could have stuck 6 people in that suite... HUGE suite with several bedrooms.

Randy,

Perhaps you can also point the editors to LH738's post regarding his upgrade at the Intercontinental London:

My gf at the time and I were travelling with my parents to Puerto Vallarta in '89 or some such.

We went to check into the Camino Real (Westin, right?) and it was fully booked. They gave us the presidential suite for the night. It was quite plush.

Other than that, my parents have also copped the Coronado Pres. Suite. They have no status at all.

The Doubletree in Omaha (Dodge St). Checked in around 3pm and since all they had were smoking rooms, they gave me the Presidential suite because of my diamond status.

It was amazing....
