WestJet Joins Sabre
WestJet announced yesterday that it is preparing to join the Sabre reservation system. This will expand the airline's exposure to travel agencies around the world.
The agreement also gives Sabre, an AA spinoff, a strategic Canadian partner.

This doesn't create a strategic partnership at all. Westjet will just be one of the hundreds of carriers that are Sabre subscribers--including all of the * carriers.
Even in using Sabre as the airline's CRS, Westjet would not be any more closely tied to AA. CRS' are very constrained in how they are permitted to deal in the information that they manage.
