Mileage Run for 60K
I will be about 4K short of the 60K threshold and the 2 for 1 coupon. I was thinking of YHZ - LHR in December to put me over the top. The fare will be around $460 CDN. Is it worth it? I always end up between 50K and 60K and just wanted to make sure the coupon was worth it... I can't think of a cheaper mileage run from YHZ, but if you can, I am open to suggestions.
BTW - I can stay with friends in LHR, so no real cost on that end.

Depends what you are going to use the 2 for 1 for.
If you are going to be travelling J sometime and want to take someone along, then it's great value. If you travel internationally fairly regularly, then a companion ticket for $460 is still a good deal.
But if most of your travel is domestic, the numbers start to tumble a bit.
As long as you know you are going to use it, I would say it's a good bet.

I agree with AC*SE. I typically use these companion awards to have someone accompany me on a J fare to LHR or HNL, which saves $3500 to $4500. For me it's a no brainer. I would spend more than $460 without hesitation.

I guess you're right, Empress, $4700 is a bit much for a mileage run. However, I did close a sizeable contract on this trip, so that helped justify it.
Of course, the real reason for the trip is MILES!! A few high fives and glasses of champagne in the LHR MLL to celebrate a successful trip. But that was nothing compared with the feeling of satisfaction upon seeing those 12500 Q miles and 26000 base miles posted.

The 2 for 1 is great but don't forget that travel must be in the same class of service for the free ticket as for the paid ticket. If the paid ticket is in V or H class, the free ticket cannot be upgraded to C. Cheers, BobQUOTE]Originally posted by MapleLeaf:
