Holy Utility Belt Batman

One way to get around the carryon restrictions is just to put everything on your belt. Phone, pager, PDA, sliderule, water bottle, glass case, etc can all be clipped to your belt.

Be careful though, too much on your belt and your pants might slide down a bit too far.

Use a fishing vest. Lots of pockets for all kinds of stuff.

So OK, it doesn't go so well with your 3 piece suit, but at least you can bring all your toys!

My favorite Objet de Couture at the moment is a
"Foxfire" "Outback" pocketed travel vest with sleeves that zip off. It makes a neat coat when it's cold and a great vest when it's hot out. I put all my bits, PDA, memory modules, camera module, tickets, batteries,PCMCIA cards, etc. in there and just sling it on through the X-Ray. Beats having to dump them
all into the little tray or drop trow in front of the guards. I picked it up at an Aussie specialty store in SEA. Alas they are no longer in business, but have seen similar things here in SF.

My favorite T-shirt WRT this is one of Dilbert
wearing one each of cel phone, pager, palmtop,GPS, and mobile fax with the caption overhead of "Dominate with Superior Technology".

I carry camera, water bottles, PDA, tix, etc. (everything except a sliderule) in a fanny pack. It's very practical, although not suitable for the person who minds being subjected to mirth from the fashion police.

Just don't call it a fanny pack to the British. Two people separated by a common language....
