A message from Joe Brancatelli @ biztravel.com

Hope this is the appropriate place to post this: If not, or if it's already being covered somewhere else, please someone post a link to it. Thanks.

I got this reply and request from Joe over at biztravel.com. As you might know, biztravel is shut down. There was one last set of columns posted late last week. As I told Joe, I was shocked when I logged on to the site and found out it was closing due to Sept. 11. At any rate, Joe, our beloved business travel Curmudgeon, is alive and well, and working on a new site, and asked me to share this with you....

"Thanks for the note and all the insight. I gotta tell you, after the terrible couple of days we've had, I can't think of a better place to be than Myrtle Beach. Boy, I could do with a couple of days of sun, beer, some golf and maybe a world like we had before September 11...

Anyway, we soldier on. Can I ask a favor? If you go into the FlyerTalk board, please do tell all the folks I said hi. I mean it. I'm swamped setting up the little website I'm doing and covering the news. But tell folks they can come over to the new temporary site starting Thursday at http://www.zyworld.com/brancatelli. Or they can send me an Email at [email protected] and I'll send them the weekly alert
newsletter!
Cheers-
Joe"

Thank you, Surfrider. I was wondering what would happen to Mr. B.

There is a "." (period) at the end of the link.

Here it is corrected: http://www.zyworld.com/brancatelli/

If any of you are familiar with Pythonese - the Crunchy Frog comes to mind - this thread needs the big red "warning larks vomit" label across it.

In plain English, I'm glad we have a place to find Joe, but that's not the story here at all.

Where is the big banner headline "Biztravel Shuts Down" That's the huge story here.

I'm not a g**d**n reporter, just an unemployed Software Developer & Implementer and an acquaintance of Joe's.

You want to do a story on biztravel shutting down, do it yourself, or post your own thread.

Maybe I missed something because I'm not a Monty Python addict, but the point of the message seemed a little confusing and/or misguided.

My post was intended to be humourous. Not an insult at all. I was shocked to find out Biztravel was closed.

My apologies if I offended you in any way.

For those who may have missed it, the sad news about BizTravel was posted on MilesBuzz 9-22-01 by paulr. This is a link to that topic.

Surfrider, thanks for the update on Joe.

As I noted, I wasn't sure. No offense taken. e-mail messages often fail to convey the 'tone' of the text, and that's what happened. Sorry to snap, I'm just a bit on edge these days.

I share your shock, I'll always remember being on the web, typing in www.biztravel.com and seeing the message about the closing.

For people like us, biztravel was more than a travel agent, it was another special place, another haven, for us to go and hear from our favorite columnists and in some cases, friends.

As Joe would say,
-Cheers!-

Surfrider-

Thanks. I received an email about this but somehow forgot about it. I gotta nice note off to him immediately after reading your thread and a confirmation from Joe B today.

Dont anyone take away (1) my daily joe AND (2) my weekly Joe. Joe B RULES and is a most welcome factual writer with most other travel writers coming up only with a sea of fluffy foam and froth.
