Where can you get a free companion ticket?

I vaguely remember that some airline's affiliated credit cards that will give you a free companion ticket.

Does anyone have a list? Also what is the general requirement of the ticket? Doe sit have to be full-fare ticket?

Thanks,

TG is running an intresting campanion package out of LAX. Fly from LAX to BKK,NRT or Osaka(didnt remember that code )

There has never been a better time to fly Thai Airways to Bangkok - now the airline that offers you more in the way of service, offers you more for your money. Passengers who pay the full THAI First Class or Business Class normal fare, get to take a companion on the same flight FREE! (Some special conditions apply.)

More info at http://www.thaiair.com/world/lax/st-...lcompanion.htm

I wonder if the 2nd passenger get miles on that ticket?

Both AA & UA offers free companion tickets for their credit cards. You can call credit card companies and ask for the promo. AA's companion tickets have more restriction such as min ticket price of around $340 and fare class. UA's companion tickets do not have such restrictions (unless there are recent changes).

DL platinum and US platinum cards also sent you $99 companion tickets. CO has Privilege Pack which include $99 companion tickets.

Is there any other offers beside above?

The free companion does not earn miles on their ticket. I believe some $99 companion tickets earn miles - I seem to remember many years ago CO offering miles on the $99 companion ticket.

CO's Privilege Pak with the $99 companion and lounge tickets, upgrades, etc is only for the first year of membership in its frequent flyer program. You do have to buy it but it is well worth the money - you get bonus miles as well.

I have found my DL companion ticket a bit difficult to use due to the restrictions. The first ticket purchased must be $325 or more domestic and $490 or more for Europe. There is a deadline for travel that is April 5 for Europe and July 31 for domestic. This gave me about 6 - 9 months to use it in either case.

Since I pay a fee for the DL Skymiles Card and charge tens of thousands of dollars per year I would like to see a companion ticket with lower restrictions. My ticket may go to waste.

Hi everyone! Am I missing something here. I have the Delta Skymiles Platinum card and the free companion ticket only comes when you renew the card, not when you first purchase it. I could be in la la land, but that is my experience.

Absolutely correct, Marysunshine. You're not in la la land, you're in Brooklyn. And you don't get the companion ticket until you renew the card, so if yihao is looking for one quickly, this ain't the way.

The United Airlines free companion ticket has only one real restriction.....it can only be used for "lower 48", Canada and Mexico. By the way, they also included a 25.00 discount certificate and a one-way 1,000 upgrade.

I just got one of these UA companion certs & confirmed with UA that they are good on circle trips and open jaw itineraries as well as roundtrip. This sure beats the restrictions on my AA companion cert, which is probably not going to get used.
