OMNI FREE Long Distance Phone Time
Have been using this for past 2 months and it really works
. Listen to 10 to 15 sec. ads. and get 2 free min. of phone time for every ad. you listen to. So, for example, if I listen for around 3 min. I earn 40 min of calling time.
Right now they are limiting it to 2 hr. per month per person - but everyone in your family can sign up for 2 hr. worth. Works on payphones and away from home-even airports. No connection charges or any other kind of "hidden" expense.
Mining Co. site that tells about it:
http://freebies.miningco.com/library/weekly/aa041999.htm
If this site does not lead directly to the information. When the site comes up click on "Shopping" then "Freebies" then "A Toll Free Ride with Freeway"
Freebies Feature News # 53 comes up. Hope this works.

Arturo - I respectifully disagree with you - I find this kind of information very relevant to Frequent Flyers.
The reason? Well, I suspect that we all have been all caught up with the MCI and Sprint miles for dialing promotions that they have been running to get our business. Well, although these promotions do receive miles, and the free calling plan that was mentioned above by Wonderer does not - it is still good to consider the alternatives. (Just take a look at how many people have been posting about the MCI offers).
I would agree, that is is off the mark slightly, but not way off. The title of this board is "The World's premier Frequent Flyer Bulletin Boards", and anything to do with making telephone calls while on the road, definately applies to frequent flyers. (It doesn't state that everything has to be about earning miles - it just says that it should apply to things that frequent flyers have in common)

Arturo, Oops! It is off topic-got carried away. No points or planes-just free.
Catman, you dial the 800 #, a pin #, then the number of the person you want to call. After you listen to the amount of ads to get time (minutes), you are connected to your call. The minutes are not banked or saved. If the call does not connect, you do not lose any of the minutes aloud for the month. Does not have anything to do with your own local or long distance phone company.

You have to admit that it has nothing to do with frequent flyer milage, however many of us get lots of miles just for switching long distance carriers without actually having to make any calls, and even Arturo will have to admit that a centavo saved is a centavo earned!

I think this is very relevant, because it sounds like it would be quite useful while traveling when I like to avoid paying calling card charges!
Discussions have often veered to general travel related topics here, and I think calling on the road would definitely be considered travel related.

I too use Freeway. Seems to work just fine. I use this and another cheaper phone company and only switch back and forth between the 3 big long distance carriers for the bonuses. This way I avoid paying the new "taxes" as well as their monthly fees and the higher phone rate. I do this on 3 phones lines and it works just fine. Let's not forget I also don't have to deal with certain customer service reps. I always think you should save money first and earn miles second. I'm missing some miles from the big three for international and domestic long distance but am saving tons of money instead.
