Kiwi has 4 wings clipped....

2 planes, 4 wings....

The following from Bloomberg news, NY Times, AP

" Newark, New Jersey, Feb. 18 -- Two of Kiwi International Air Lines' eight jets were repossessed by closely held London-based company Fly France 1 Ltd. after Kiwi didn't honor an agreement to buy the planes, the New York Times reported, citing the Associated Press. Discount carrier Kiwi is now flying only four planes, as its two other planes are being repaired. The airline is putting passengers who would have flown on the repossessed Boeing Co. 727s on Pan Am and Sun Pacificairlines' flights, Kiwi spokesman Rob Kulat told AP, the newspaper said.

One of the planes is in repair b/c it broke a cover on some type of drain while taxing about a week ago at EWR; the right landing gear went through the cover causing the right wing to hit the ground.

I think KIWI is in very critical condition and about to join Pan Am, Eastern, Braniff, People's Express, Eastern, etc in airline heaven.

It's ashame. They were a nice little airline with big ideas but bigger debts.

I already told one of my friends I would think twice about booking in KIWI! CATMAN

kiwi is toast. they never really got it. the original employees brought a lot of attitude from eastern. things started to go downhill when they pushed out the founder early on. they have squandered a great opportunity, and a lot of goodwill. operating over age planes which require 3 person flite cews was crazy. they have become unreliable, which is the kiss of death, and other low fare guys like spirit and sunjet (which is no great shakes itself) are moving in for the kill, not to mention CO adding seats and matching fares. a real shame, but that's what happens when the inmates run the asylum.
