Now this is a good use of miles..Superbowl

Just traded a friend an award ticket to New Orleans for a Superbowl ticket...had to use anytime miles @ 40,000, but the game ticket is worth at least $1,000...if he could have got any flights, it would have run $1,600...so it's a good deal all around.

Anyway, we're both psyched.

Any FTer's want to get together down in the Big Easy?

Personally I don't think its a big deal, but isn't trading/bartering against the airline rules?

No... didn't you hear him? He gave some stranger a "gift" of an airline ticket. And, then by some stroke of luck, someone else have him a "gift" of a SuperBowl ticket.

Lots of generous people in the world

Frankly, it's not with a stranger...I'm responsible for the airline tickets...he's responsible for the game tickets...we're good friends and are both excited about the trip...the net result is that I am able to turn an abundance of miles into a terrific boondoggle...

Now if only the Pats can pull another rabbit out of the hat!

actually, the dictionary meaning is:

boondoggle :
1 : a braided cord worn by Boy Scouts as a neckerchief slide, hatband, or ornament
2 : a wasteful or impractical project or activity often involving graft

(i'm guessing we're discussing the second meaning here...)

That's funny...and good to know...I'd emphasize "impractical" -- especially the part about the Patriots winning...but why be practical all the time...stranger things have happenned (already this year)!

A good deal is any deal where both parties are happy with the outcome. Sounds like a winner from where I'm sittin!

By the way, if you like good fresh seafood (softshell crab, boiled mudbugs and shrimp etc..) try Deanie's in Bucktown. You'll get some of the best food in town and avoid the overpriced special event prices in the city. About any NOLA native can tell you how to get there. Another great place in Metarie is Charly G's at the end of Vets. They serve great regional cuisine, are more expensive but also participate in the Idine program. Another good Idine restaraunt is the Ernst Cafe in the Warehouse Dist. It's across Canal Street from the Quarter on the river side of the CBD.

Have agreat time in the Crazy Crescent!

Thanks for the suggestions...we'll see what transpires...probably going to stay pretty close to the French Quarter..so far, have reservations at Pelican Club and GW Fins, which have been highly recommended...now working on party/event invitations...

Congrats on your deal, enjoy the game.

Another wholehearted vote for Deanie's. In a previous life (with unlimited flight privileges), would fly to NOLA just for Deanie's when the seafood bug hit!
