AC Complimentary Bar Coupon-UA RCC?

I have in the past been a Canadian Plus Gold member - I did not start going into the UA lounges in USA until late last year.

Sometimes the reception would voluntarily give me 1 (or sometimes 2) complimentary bar coupon, sometimes only if asked, and sometimes not given even if asked.

What is the policy of receiving AC bar coupons in UA lounges in USA?

Forget it. It's all cash and nothing offered up free to MLL or STAR Gold members using the RCCs.

This was my biggest surprise using a UA lounge for the first time on the way to SYD. No free drinks. I managed to get a Coke on the house. Red Carpet members pay for lounge privileges. I think that I will stick with MLL when available!

If you have an international C or higher boarding pass they will give you a free drink coupon (I am working on finding the source).

Thank you.

However, I was talking about receiving Air Canada complimentary bar coupons from the receptionist in the RCC (I was not talking about receiving free drinks directly through RCC themselves) for passengers flying on AC flights from a US destination to a Canadian one?

Does Air Canada have an agreement with United Airlines that Air Canada passengers will be provided complimentary coupons (prepared by Air Canada) to Air Canada passengers who show up in the Red Carptet Club in USA? I have received these coupons, inconsistently from such members.

I agree that as a Star Alliance Gold member per se, I have no priviliges of receiving alcoholic beverages, free of charge, in these lounges.

Not enough experience with UA yet, but when C+ members entered AA lounges, they were usually given 2 drink coupons. On a few occaisions the agent told me to come back for more if I needed them.

Are there any airports where there's a choice? The only one I can think of with both lounges is LAX, but the terminals are so far apart they might as well be in different airports.

BTW, when I went into the RCC at DCA last month, there was plenty of pop in the fridge. As far as I know it was free.

Nice lounge too, I gather it's better than most RCCs.

I have never heard of such AC alcoholic drink coupons at RCCs, similar to those that were provided for Cdn+ members at Admirals Clubs. But I have had free drinks at international RCCs, just never at the domestic ones. I suppose it is a bit like being invited to someone's home: you accept their standards and their conventions and if they don't offer you a drink, you don't expect one.

This is the value of this site .... In the days of Canadi<n in Oneworld, I used to hit AA Admirals Club on more than a few occasions by presenting my C+ Gold Card. I never ever got or have been offerred a coupon for an alcoholic beverage. Chicago, Dallas, Toronto Transborder .... never. I was in these places at least once a month minimum for roughly two years. Go figure.

A First for me

I've used the RCC for the last six years when flying United. Last week I was offered Drink coupons at the bar. I'm sure I looked a little surprised when presented, but gladly accepted and had a nice glass of Moet and Chandon at the bar.^
