Kellogg's/AA: What EXACTLY is the limit pre 2/03?

With eight days left until the new 100K/AA account limit is imposed, I'm still unclear as to what the limit is BEFORE that date. The number 200,000 is bandied about, but I can find that number nowhere on Kellogg's site. Even if there is such a limit, is that per account, lifetime? Per account, per calendar year? Or what? And if this limit is published nowhere, where does it come from?

I believe this limit was briefly published on the Kellogg's site and now seems to have disappeared. My understanding is that the 200,000-mile limit applies to certs postmarked by January 31, 2003; after which the limit changes to 100,000 miles per account per calendar year.

I kept the postcard they sent in late 2001:

"Limit of 200,000 miles will be awarded per AAdvantage membership number for certificates postmarked January 1, 2002 through January 31, 2003."

On a slightly different point, I have four 100 mile Kellogg certs that expire 1/31/2003, they each say submit a minimum of 10 per 1,000 miles, and I also have three 100 mile certs that expire 1/31/2004, they each say "new minimum of five for 500 miles".

Can I take my 4 certs that expire 1/31/03 that say minimum 10, and send them in before 1/31/03 with one cert that expires 1/31/04 and says minimum 5 and get 500 miles? Or are my ones expiring 1/31/03 orphans?

Great, but what about certs postmarked BEFORE January 2002?

The Kellogg's "Consumer Affairs" rep I talked to seemed to think it was 200,000 miles LIFETIME, PER ACCOUNT. When I asked her where that was written, she said it was on the Kellogg's site. When I told her it wasn't, she put me on hold and said it was on the complete details on the inside back of the cereal box. When I told her it wasn't, she said that it was a restriction imposed by AA, and the rules say they can change the promotion at any time.

Uh huh.

To quote Monty Python: "Oh, she's makin' it up as she goes along!"
