Back in the good old days, when easySabre was around, this was easy, but which programs will allow me to do this now??

Edited to remove rather large error

Last time I used it, ITN let you see that a fare class was available (and how many seats). However, it won't let you see the fare in a specific class. So, if you want (say) a M class fare on DL you can get it, because ITN will give you the cheapest fare (restricted) or the cheapest unrestricted fare.

As far as I know, there is nothing that will let you pick a fare class (except F, J/C, Y) and see its fare.

Try trip.com. If you set it to return results in expert mode, it gives you the number of seats available in each possible fare class. It also gives updates on the status of the flights, and gate info on the day of the flight.

What I would really like is the ability to enter city pairs and get a listing of fares available between those cities.

Does anyone know of a site that offers this?

Tolarian,

Your best bet is still the site that operates under the name of easysabre.com. Don't get it confused with the old telnet version of easysabre, because it's just the Travelocity version of that old system. However, there is a fare listing menu item that gives all the fares from Y to F for city pairs without having to designate a date or time. This is an advantage over the fare calculator on Expedia which doesn't require a date either, but only gives certain economy fares (I'm not sure why).

I thought I finally found easysabre replacement!
www.seaforths.com

It used to works almost exactly like easysabre. However, it only worked for a couple days after I downloaded it... They now changed the website so it only display by Economy, business....

Cool. I've never done this before.

Is there a website that explains how the codes work? I understand that the letters F Y B Q ... are the fare types, but what are the numbers after those letters for? Q9 doesn't mean there are only NINE available seats at this fare, does it?

Anyways, where can I go to learn more about availability codes, or anything else that a travel agent might see?

Thanks!

Darq, as I understand it, H5 means that there are only 5 seats left in fare base H. But, Q9 means that there are 9 or more seats in Q. i.e. the system will not show availability of more than 9 seats in any given class, even if more are available.

As for finding out what the codes mean, that is one of the old chestnuts of this board. If you do a search you will find many threads that partly answer your question - but there is no definitive list. Basically each airline is a little bit different...

However, the number that is reported back also depends on the airline. ie F4 can be mean only 4 F seats left or more than 4 F seats left.
