MCI--5cent 7pm to 7am (but watch out)
Since I'm still hanging out collecting the rest of my 25,000 pts from MCI, I was delited
to have them lower the evening rates to 5 cents beteween 7pm - 7am. But watch out. My rates are 10 cents during the day, but if you are on a different plan, it can be as much a 25 cents. So make sure you know what you are getting if you sign up. I called 800-754-7076.
(OOps sorry--forgot about the MCI posting under PHONES. This should be there instead.)

Thanks for the clarification, doc. What I like is they just added the new 5 cent evening rate to what ever plan I already had. They didn't charge me more or change anything (I hope).
My phone book has 5 (I just recounted them) pages of local numbers. Everything else is long distance. So I use some dial-around, some free-way and what ever else I can think of to lower that bill.
I remember when I had no choice and ATT was it. 30 cents during the day and 18 cents in the evening after 9. And that was when I had teenagers. So I gusess the moral of this story is that sometimes the good old days weren't so good.
This latest round of competition is great. I just wish ATT would jump in with "POINTS" to liven up the picture.

AT&T, MCI Worldcom and Sprint still control 90% of the entire market today. Sprint (10%), MCI Worldcom (20%) and AT&T with a whopping 60% share. Others share the remainig 10% among themselves. This latest round of price cutting should prove to be interesting, though so far only Quest has responded. Sprint is supposedly trying to hold firm with their Nightly Nickel program or whatever they call it!
