Interesting Mypoints BonusMail offer ...

I know a few of the other folks here are MyPoints members, and sometimes I don't read the BonusMail offers to carefully, I just click on the link to get the 10 points, but you might want to watch for one that I received a few days ago from "VerticalOne".

This is a very interesting site with a very lucrative MyPoints offer. The site will consolidate information from accounts you have access to at various websites, including FF accounts (though they only have five right now, UA, CO, DL, NW, and AA). In addition to FF accounts it also checks e-mail, bills, credit cards, and other sites. It's sort of like MileageMiner but with a broader base of types of accounts you can check.

The other interesting part of this is if you respond through the MyPoints BonuMail link you get:

300 MyPoints for signing up and adding 1 account

150 MyPoints for each additional account you add

So, I added the five FF accounts, my MCI account, my Bell South account, and my Yahoo Mail account ...

300 + 7 x 150 = 1350 MyPoints ... pretty nice offer, and it's totally free. I will admit I was a little nervous about giving them all of this information, but they look like an above the board company (I did not add my AMEX account though I will admit).

So, for you MyPoints members out there, you might want to watch out for this offer, pretty cool service (that's free) and a lucrative MyPoints offer!

If you want to check out the service, you can at:

http://alpha.verticalone.com

but you won't get MyPoints if you sign up through that link.

Don't know about other folks, but I am just not interested in giving someone else, even if it's just a "secure" computer, access to all my accounts, passwords, etc., so they can "check" things for me. I'll do it myself.

I prefer to do things myself too. But if I had received the invitation for this (I have not) I would have signed up to get the bonus points.

OMNI - I'm trying to get to 20K with MyPoints because that is when the 5K bonus kicks in, right now I'm at 12K. 12K Mypoints will get me roughly 12K AA miles, 20K Mypoints will yield 25K AA miles.

Thanks for the heads up and the warning both. Perhaps the take home message is that one should respond only with the UNimportant stuff?

I signed up for this Vista service but have not given any information but my name, address and favorite brand of cat food (Fancy Feast.) I probably will NOT give any information unless it's the only way to get the 200 points.

OMNI for my buddy DJLawman: Can we have the option of stock or miles with this My Points IPO? Give me the MILES!

On behalf of MyPoints.com, Inc., I want to personally thank you for continuing to be one of our most valuable members. As an expression of our appreciation, I am pleased to offer you the opportunity to purchase stock in our company's upcoming initial public offering (IPO) through the MyPoints Directed Share Program. This Program will allow a select group of members to purchase a defined number of shares of MyPoints.com, Inc. at the IPO price. The MyPoints.com, Inc. IPO is expected to occur sometime during the week of August 16, 1999.

There are 3 important steps TO COMPLETE for the MyPoints Directed Shares Program. You must complete ALL of them to be eligible to participate. PLEASE NOTE that it is possible that you will not receive shares even if you follow all of the steps outlined here since there will be a limited number of shares for this Program.

1. Open an Account at Wit Capital and fund with the required $2,000 (minimum account balance)
2. Review Prospectus and Place a Conditional Offer for the MyPoints.com, Inc. IPO
3. Reconfirm your Conditional Offer when you are asked to do so

What follows are more details for each of the steps and a DETAILED ACCOUNT OPENING CHECKLIST at the end of this message to help guide you through the account opening process. You should PRINT THIS CHECKLIST and review it regularly to ensure that you have completed each of the steps properly.

Step 1: Open an Account at Wit Capital

In order to be eligible to participate in the MyPoints.com IPO, you will need to open an account with Wit Capital. Wit Capital is assisting MyPoints.com, Inc. with the management of this Program. You may open an account by clicking on the link provided in the "Helpful Links" section of the Directed Share Program web site: http://affinity.witcapital.com/mypoints

Here are a few important notes to consider as you proceed. Please refer to the enclosed checklist throughout the process.

I. You must open an INDIVIDUAL CASH ACCOUNT online at Wit Capital and successfully receive an account number at the end of the process. This process should take approximately 25-30 minutes and requires Internet access and a valid email address, which MUST be the same address through which you received this invitation. You will be given an account number online after you print the entire application. Remember to include your account number on the application. If you already have an online Wit Capital account, you will not need to open a new one since we will track your participation through your MyPoints email address. If you need to add your MyPoints email address to your Wit Capital profile, please email Wit Capital at [email protected].

II. Be sure to enter the email address through which you received this invitation, since this will be used to identify you as a member of this Program.

You received this email through YOUR MYPOINTS ACCOUNT EMAIL ADDRESS: [email protected] .

To ensure that shares are delivered only to our valued customers, only customers who have entered the same EXACT email address that is in our database will be eligible for participation. PLEASE NOTE that once the Offering has been declared effective by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and priced, you will need to reconfirm your Conditional Offer by responding to Wit Capital's request for confirmation notice when requested to do so. This may occur in the evening AFTER traditional business hours so take into consideration your ability to access your computer and as you continue through this process.

III. Be sure to enter a USER NAME and PASSWORD. Please save this information on your checklist since Wit Capital's representatives do not have access to your encrypted password, and you will need it to access your online account.

IV. After you open your account online, you must send the SIGNED application together with A CHECK MADE OUT TO "U.S. CLEARING CORP." FOR A MINIMUM OF $2,000, FROM YOUR ACCOUNT WITH YOU AS PAYOR (no third party checks). Your application and check MUST be POSTMARKED by FRIDAY, AUGUST 6, 1999. Please note that it takes approximately three business days for checks to be processed from the time they are received. Wit Capital will send you an email once we have processed your check. Materials should be sent via the U.S. Postal Service or Overnight Delivery to:

Via U.S Postal Service:

Wit Capital Corporation
Attn: MyPoints.com/Directed Share Program
P.O. Box 724
New York, NY 10276
NOTE: You must write your account number on your check.

Via Overnight Delivery:

Wit Capital Corporation
Attn: MyPoints.com/Directed Share Program
826 Broadway, 7th Floor
New York, N.Y. 10003
NOTE: You must write your account number on your check.

Step 2: Review Prospectus and Place a Conditional Offer

If you opened an online account, Wit Capital will notify you via email through an "IPO Alert" when it is time to place a Conditional Offer for the Offering. We expect this may occur during the week of August 9, 1999. At that time, you will be requested to click on a link and:

I. Review the preliminary prospectus.
II. Place a Conditional Offer ONLINE for the shares, should you elect to do so. This can only be done ONLINE by clicking on the appropriate buttons. Please note that the minimum Conditional Offer size is 100 shares and the maximum is 500 shares.

Step 3: Confirm Your Conditional Offer

I. Near the time that the Offering is actually priced, which is expected to be the week of August 16, 1999, if you would like to receive an allocation of shares you will need to "RECONFIRM" your Conditional Offer by email when requested to do so by Wit Capital. This will occur near the time the Offering is declared effective by the Securities and Exchange Commission which MAY OCCUR IN THE EVENING, so please monitor your email carefully. THE RECONFIRMATION WINDOW MAY BE ONLY SEVERAL HOURS, AND AGAIN, YOU MUST RECONFIRM YOUR CONDITIONAL OFFER FROM THE SAME EMAIL ADDRESS THROUGH WHICH YOU RECEIVED THIS INVITATION. In order to reconfirm your Conditional Offer, simply REPLY to our emailed request and type "I CONFIRM" in the subject line. Do not create your own outbound email. Email sent to any other address WILL NOT constitute confirmation.

II. If you are allocated shares through this Program, and your initial deposit is insufficient to pay for shares you are allocated, you will have to MAKE FULL PAYMENT PROMPTLY for the balance due. If payment is not received by the settlement date, the third business day after your acceptance, the transaction may be terminated.

While we would like to extend this Program to as many of our members as possible, certain individuals are not able to participate for regulatory reasons. Securities regulations or our Program rules require that:

I. Only persons located in the United States may participate
II. Only INDIVIDUALS opening cash accounts may be included in this Program. Retirement plans, investment clubs, partnerships, corporations, and other venture groups are not permitted.
III. Initial public offering securities may not be purchased using margin.
IV. No persons under the age of 18 may purchase securities through this Program.

In addition, because of legal and regulatory considerations unique to initial public offerings, certain people and their immediate family members may be excluded from this opportunity if they are employees, agents or otherwise associated with a NASD member, broker/dealer-related activities or hold certain positions with banks, insurance companies, or certain similar financial institutions.

Please keep in mind that we are still in the process of having our Offering reviewed by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Therefore, no information pertaining to this Offering may be discussed until the Preliminary Prospectus becomes available to you. PLEASE DO NOT REDISTRIBUTE THIS EMAIL MESSAGE.

Please remember that Wit Capital, not MyPoints, is administering this Program. As such, if you have any questions, please refer to the designated Web site, http://affinity.witcapital.com/mypoints
that will provide Program updates, a detailed checklist and our list of Program-specific frequently asked questions ("FAQs"). If you still have questions, send an email to [email protected] and you will receive an answer within 48 hours from one of Wit Capital's customer care representatives.

DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL---ALL QUESTIONS MUST GO THROUGH WIT CAPITAL TO RECEIVE AN ANSWER.

Remember, DAVID, if you choose to open an account, your signed application along with your check needs to be postmarked no later than August 6, 1999. We will be sure to make every effort to keep you informed of the timing and availability of the prospectus and the actual Offering as that information becomes available. Thank you again for your loyalty in the MyPoints Program.

No offer to buy Common Stock can be accepted and no part of the purchase price can be debited from an account or otherwise paid to Wit Capital until the Registration Statement relating to the Common Stock has become effective under the Securities Act of 1933. Any such offer to buy may be withdrawn or revoked, without obligation or commitment of any kind, at any time prior to the notice of its acceptance given after the effective date of the Registration Statement. An expression of interest in response to this letter will involve no obligation or commitment.

The following statement is required to be included in this letter by the rules and regulations of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission:

"A Registration Statement relating to these securities has been filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission but has not yet become effective. These securities may not be sold nor may offers to buy be accepted prior to the time that the Registration Statement becomes effective. This letter shall not constitute an offer to sell or the solicitation of an offer to buy nor shall there be any sales of these securities in any state in which such offer, solicitation or sale would be unlawful prior to registration or qualification under the securities laws of any such state."

DETAILED ACCOUNT OPENING CHECKLIST
To open a Wit Capital account, go to http://affinity.witcapital.com/mypoints.
Click on the "Open an Account" link under [Helpful Links]. Review the information titled "Before you Open an Account" and click "Continue" at the bottom of the page. Through this 25-30 minute process, you will be given options from which to choose. Please make your selections in conjunction with the information in this checklist.

Setup Preparation:
>Printer -- Keep in mind that when you are prompted to print the application you need to click on center page "frame" to print
>Back Button -- with some browsers, 'back' button causes some data to disappear
>You will need your Bank Account information and account number to fill out the application

Step 1 Select Individual Account

Step 2 Select Cash Account

Step 3 Select State of Residence

Step 4 Answer appropriately; it is easiest if you do not have to check any of the statements.

Step 5 No dashes for birthdate or SSN

--Make sure the email address you input into the account application EXACTLY matches your MyPoints email address

YOUR MYPOINTS EMAIL ADDRESS IS: [email protected]

--Note that accredited investor information is NOT required for the MyPoints Directed Share Program. We ask for this information to determine whether you may be eligible to participate in potential future private placement opportunities through Wit Capital.
--Affiliate status: If you are affiliated with a NASD firm, a bank, an insurance company, or certain similar financial institutions, you may not be eligible
--Investment Objectives: most IPO investors have Growth objectives
--Speculative Investments: In order to participate in new issues of securities, your objectives must allow for speculation. Speculative investments are risky and are not appropriate for everyone. You should assess whether such investments are suitable for you.

Step 6 Review, Print and SIGN the application. If you have to go back to correct information, be careful, as some of your information may have to be resubmitted. Click "Accept" after you have printed and signed the application.

Step 7 -- If you have chosen a money market fund and want free checkwriting privileges, please email us at [email protected] and we will send you the signature card
--This step also includes the fund prospectus. Printing it can take awhile. You may want to view it only. You do NOT need to sign or send this long document.

Step 8 -- Provides an account agreement you can save. Printing it can take awhile. You do NOT need to send this to Wit Capital.

Step 9 --Write a check for a minimum of $2,000 to U.S. Clearing Corp.
--The check should be FROM YOUR ACCOUNT WITH YOU AS PAYOR (no third party checks) and signed by YOU
--Include your Wit Account Number---which you will receive in Step 11---on your check

Step 10 Since this is a special MyPoints Directed Share Program, please IGNORE the address on the online application. It is important that you mail your application AND check, postmarked NO LATER THAN AUGUST 6, 1999, to:

Via U.S. Postal Service:

Wit Capital Corporation
Attn: MyPoints.com/Affinity Program
P.O. Box 724
New York, NY 10276

OR Via Overnight Delivery:

Wit Capital Corporation
Attn: MyPoints.com/Directed Share Program
826 Broadway, 7th Floor
New York, N.Y. 10003

Mail MUST be POSTMARKED by August 6, 1999

Step 11 VERY IMPORTANT. You receive your account number in Step 11. Write this on your check. You also need to create a user name and password. Choose "new" user name. SAVE your account number, user name and password. Wit Capital's customer care representatives do not have access to your encrypted password, and you will need it to access your online account.

Given the recent shakiness of the market, including internet IPO's (Take a look at this one that came out today for $11, Quotesmith), I'd avoid it ...

Interesting, I just got the message again from our friend at MyPoints starting with "If you have not yet responded to my first email, this reminder outlines the steps to take if you choose to participate in the MyPoints Directed Shares Program. You will need to mail your account application by FRIDAY, AUGUST 6, 1999, to be eligible."

Looks like they're starting to get scared ... I would not be surprised if they decided to shelve this IPO until the market improves. The internet IPO thing is very cyclical, and this is not the first time the market has run cold like this, and when it happens, you'll often see companies suddenly decide not to go public and wait for the market to heat up again.

Besides, MyPoints will need all the help it can get, because I just don't see it as that great of an investment anyway!
