Mini trip report: EWR-ORD-EWR

Nothing really major happened on this trip except all my work got done very early and I had time to go to Pizzeria Uno's for some good Pepperoni Pizza.

So I decided to take a chance at getting on the earlier flight out of ORD to get home
UA 662, getting me to EWR at 22:30, an hour early.

I went to check-in and the sour gate agent simply said "NO" and said I had to move along.

SO I went to the Red Carpet Lounge and rather then giving a long explaination said nicely "It would help if I could get home early since I had to be into work very early tuesday (8 a-m, which is true.) The Red Carpet person checked the flights and said in fact my current flight was OVERSOLD and there was space on the earlier one, one seat in FIRST (YES!)

She joked I don't want ot be there when the gate agent says the flight is oversold.

SO I got home early to a broken glass mug and a curtain pulled down. THe cats must have missed me.

On the last trip where my wife and I went together, we came home to a dining room where one of our cats had somehow pulled down the curtains and rod. And these cats have no claws!

I have to thank the FlyerTalk community for teaching me about trying the Red Carpet Lounge if I need to change tixs, have problems etc. THank you folks!

It's nice to win one for a change.

OMNI for Mileage Addict: never underestimate the will of a cat upset that "mommy & Daddy" have left, even for overnight. They may be declawed but they still have their teeth, a powerful weapon indeed.

But I salute you from one cat person to another!

OMNI re cats - came home one night after two days away - both of my cats were so excited to see me/angry at me for being away so long - they both jumped around and promptly vomitted. I would have preferred a broken mug and/or shredded curtains.

OMNI for EMD: cats are unusual but wonderful animals.
I too have been greeted with my kitties bringing up food as a "welcome home" greeting.

It's important to use ammonia to rid the smell from that!
