Finally a new airfare "war"
This AM Delta dropped fares to many places including Europe by some big bucks. Yesterday the fare was $578 MKE-LGW today its $409. Hopefully everyone else will "get into the act" and get the fares down. Until today the MKE-LGW fare had been cheaper prior to 9/11!

Finally is right! Delta has started a fare sale, but no word that others will follow. Airlines have not been as proactive about matching competitors fares as they have been in past years. <shrug> We'll see...

I've monitored BOS-SFO, 11/29-12/6 on AA, for a few weeks. (It's a real trip, not a test case.) When I started the cheapest flights were non-stops for $455. About a week ago the non-stops went to $460 but connections were available at $373. It just dropped to $281 for nonstops, or the same fare plus a few $$ in added airport charges for connections.
Can't say it's a direct Delta match, since DL doesn't fly that route, but they may have matched other transcon routes and wanted to keep this one in line.
Anyhow, good news for those of us who have to watch our pennies!

Looks like UA is matching this. The "everyday leisure fare" I saw to the West Coast this morning dropped more than $70 to become an "around the world" fare this afternoon.

Fares out of ANC (both domestic and across the pond) took a pretty sizable dive today. With the CO double mile bonus until Nov 15, I am definitely looking at some European mileage runs.
