Starwood Optima card, in combination with the Citibank Master Card (with the 10,000 mile bonus). For Starwood you get 1.25 AA miles per dollar spent ($20k in spending gets you 25k miles).

freakflyer, went to AMEX site and found Starwood Preferred Guest card. It appears to have 1 point per $ spent. Is there another Starwood AMEX card?

There is only 1 card at this time. Other threads will explain that a change is about to happen, and this wonderful free card will now have a $30 annual fee (first year free). For any transfers of less than 20,000 you will get 1 mile for 1 mile. It is only if you transfer 20,000 that you get the 5000 bonus miles.

The 10,000 mile offer that was through aolaadvantage has been reduced to 5,000. I would take the 10,000 through elegant bride. There is an offer through aolaadvantage for the platinum select which is a business card. No free secondary cards and I think it is $75.

I got the platinum select but they have no record of me signing up for the 10k which no longer exists. But this Elegant Bride info is valuable stuff for all of us over on AA. But my question is : Is this a Visa or MC and I wonder if you can get it even if you already have one of the cards.

Diners Club gets you one AA mile per dollar. You also get the flexibility of redeeming in other programs if you want, sometimes with BA for double miles. The fee is $80 per year but you can get a 12,000-mile (24,000 DC points) bonus the first year, 1,000 miles for each month with any activity, which more than makes up for the fee. You can reportedly get a "retention bonus" for renewal as well.
If you're concerned with carrying a balance, DC gives you two billing cycles to pay with no finance charges. It's not a revolving charge card, though: you're supposed to pay it off, not carry a balance over time.
Downside: DC isn't accepted everywhere, so you still need another card. IMHO it ought to be MC/Visa since AmEx, including Optima, is also not accepted everywhere (though it's a bit better than DC in that regard).
If you want a Diners, please e-mail me for a referral form or ask any DC cardholder you know. The referrer gets a few thousand miles. You don't lose a thing.

Roberto: I called the number and they said they were the ATT Universal Card application line and did not know anything about the Citibank offer. Is there another number and is there a solicitation number attached to the offer? What month was the ad in the magazine? thanks
