are there any good promotions currently out there that give miles for opening brokerage or bank accounts?

Bankdirect.com still has a deal for AA points.
10,000 MR points if you open an AMEX brokerage account.

E-trade offers sign up bonuses of 25000 miles ($50000 deposit), 10000 ($10000), and 5000 ($1000). They also offer 5000 miles for everyone you refer to them.
The miles can be earned on Delta, United, or Northwest.

From ETRADE's website, its sounds like they are fine with you opening 5 accounts in the same name with say $10,000 in order to get 50,000 miles instead of 1 account with $50,000 to get 25,000 points. Any thoughts on this strategy?
Also, be warned that the fine print excludes non-taxable accounts like IRA's and ETRADE levies a quarterly service charge if you are below $5000.

1) A $50 fee to close an account.
2) Very high margin interest rates compared to say TD Waterhouse.
3) Very low credit interest rates, and is very slow to credit deposits to your account.

Redhead - where is this "10k AA miles for opening a Citibank checking account and getting the Citi AAdvantage Debit card"?
The only thing I see on Citi's page is 4K for the debit card.
