NY-NJ airports in the news.....
As long as I'm posting web articles today:
1) American announces their intent to make JFK a "hub" airport with 59 new slots. (Remind me never to take the Belt parkway again).

2) EWR shuts down runways in the fog because (get this) nobody replaced the blown lightbulbs in time. 36 flights to newark had to be diverted. FAA blames Newark, Newark blames FAA - you landed in Cleveland.

I am not surprised by the troubles at Newark. As a CO Gold Elite, I've flown in/out there a number of times. It is probably one of (if not the) worst airports in the country. Delays are the rule here.

I'm sorry that your guys are running into delays at EWR. My station did the lightbulb problem (I wish I had that sotry to write. I would write a very cynical/CATTY news story.
OR" MEMO to Port Authority, operators of EWR:
There are several Home Depots within a few miles of your airport. The Secaucus and Jersey City ones are open twenty four hours and they probably have enough lightbulbs to replace every light at your airport.
If you pay me, I would be more than happy to go to Home Depot and get all the lightbulbs you need!!!
I like EWR because of the room and the closeness to my home. But I tend to forget about the delays after a Sam Adams settles in my brain! So you are right MIle King (in fact LGA is really LAG airport and JFK is really J(E)RK airport and EWR is really Nightmare airport.) CATMAN
