I was just browsing through the various promotions on offer and noticed mention of a 20,000 point bonus for first time booking.

Sweeeet.

Trouble is I'm over here in Australia. So my question is...

1. Can I make a booking for a cheap domestic flight and not show up and still qualify for the bonus? I mean - you don't actually have to fly to get the bonus?

2. If this is possible what would the cheapest flight be that I could book?

And if you get it what can you get for 20K? i.e. a domestic flight, or an intra Sth America flight or what?

Seems a high point figure for a simple booking.

I am going to Chile at Xmas, so if anyone knows the time period this runs, and any other rules, please advise, as I can probably wangle it somehow to book and use a ticket.

Let's work through this logically.

Firstly from Bonus bulletin on this site...

Ok leaving the bonus aside for a second it is worth noting that Lanpass, Lanchile's FF scheme, is free to join and awards 3000 points on joining, 1,000 points on your birthday, and I think 1,000 points at Christmas! All free!

From what I can make out from my spanish Lanpass booklet, 30,000 points gets you a round trip ticket within Australia or to NZ. Pretty good value.

So 20,000 +3,000 bonus and you're well on your way to a round trip ticket.

Sounds easy but there is usually a catch somewhere. Hopefully somebody on this board can alert us to what it is.
