Do AC Prices Drop?
I am in one of the situations of buy now? or buy later? Right now I am looking at flights, end of June, YYZ to CDG pricing at $1123 for V class. Can anyone tell me if these will drop and Q fares will appear later in the Spring? Or is this the best price I am going to get on AC and it's only going to get higher? It's vacation (the comapny isn't paying) and I'm buying 3 tickets.
Thanks
Thanks

It's doubtful those V fares will drop that much even if they have another seat sale. I paid $944 (incl taxes) for a V fare for next week (from winter seat sale) YYC-CDG via YYZ and YUL which has been upgraded.
That is still a good V fare that you have. I think I paid more last year for my V fares than I am this year.

Actually, Q fares do not appear anymore throughout the year on international routes, only during sale periods.
The lowest regular fare is V or H on some routes. That is why it really hasn't bugged me having the upgrade V fare or higher rule. Most of the time I can't take advantage of sale fares for international travel anyway. This year was an exception but the sale included an unheard of V fare sale!
And if Whitey wants to know if there will be cheaper Q and L fares later--it is likely but don't bet on it.

The reason I only commented on V fares earlier is that I will not by Q or L fares due to the fact they are non-upgradeable by Super Elites. I keep forgetting that some people actually buy sale Q and L fares!
A lot of seats were sold in the winter seat sale and those flights already sold extend into May. Then you are into summer season and while there may be sales, they won't be as good as winter ones.

I was just wondering, from the accumulated experience on this forum, if it was rare that prices would drop from the V fare I was quoted now, for travel to CDG at an obviously peak time (June). If the fare dropped, I just assumed that Q or L would be the fare code.

Yes BB I bought a Q fare to LHR for $660. Not upgradable but very cheap. As an Elite not much is upgradable on international ...only Y to Europe and Y,M to the rest. However, the price was right and a good seat at that!

Sounds as thought that UA 'seat sale' might have helped you out!!!

That's always the dilemma Whitey buy now and get the flights you want by paying more or wait and hope you can get the paltry few seats they offer in Q or L class before everyone else snatches them up.
You can bet there will be cheaper fares, the question is -- is it worth the wait? If you need security for a well-planned trip with advance reservations in hotels etc., I would book now. If $$$ is your only consideration and you have flexibility on dates, you can probably wait.

There appears to be a VLXFRS1 on AC for $809.00 for travel in June (travelocity fare search). This is quite decent as CDG seems to be less prone to discounting than other AC European destinations. I'd book this fare now if it was me. Could also do the "V" fare of $699 to LHR and add a flight to CDG if you have any interest in going to London as well as the total cost may only be a bit more.
