Europe - New York
My daughter flies every so often from Germany to New York to visit me here. She always gets a bit worried when there is a plane crash, particular if it involves New York. I told her that there are probably over 500 flights a day between Europe and New York, v.v.
Does anybody know more exactly how many flights there are per day in either direction between Europe and New York (JFK and EWR)?

The reason I put a continent against a single city is that New York has been the origin or destination of fatal flights to/from Europe (TWA, Swissair, Egypt Air, Concorde) and in general is the prime US gateway for flights to/from Europe. I think there is no other single city in the world with so many connections with one other continent and there is something special about flights between New York and Europe, vv.(from Lindbergh to the only scheduled destination for the Concorde).

reisevergnuegen -- you can find this information (as well as lots of other data related to NYC airports) here: http://www.panynj.gov/aviation/traffic/coverfram.HTM
2000 monthly summaries of airport activities do not seem to be accessible, but 1999 ones work fine.
