Need suggestions for new Credit Card.

Thanks to the good folks on the board, I now have a Starwood AMEX, AA Platinum Business MasterCard, and a AS Platinum Visa.

However, AS, while still flying TUS-SEA is rumored to be leaving TUS with the Current Horizon Service to SJC. This would effectively limit my usage of AS at all unless I want to drive to PHX.

The AS Visa, gave a $50 companion and two FC upgrades, plus 2000 miles each year for the $85 fee. Now with only one effective destination, and AS automatically upgrading MPV to FC, the chances of using the FC upgrades has virtually disappeared. The $50 companion is useful, but the $85 fee per year does not seem justified anymore, so I am considering cancelling.

Also, since I have an AMEX and a MC, I would like to move to another Visa, that would realistically give decent earning potential. I realize that it would probably be a Hotel Card. Most flying is done on AA as they give the best options out of TUS and I have never had trouble getting awards.

So, what card should I look to replace the AS Visa.

Since most of your flying is on AA, have you considered a Citibank AA card? I realize that you have one for business, but if you are keeping all expenses separate...

I am sure that someone here can point you towards a good miles for sign-up offer.

Another good option is Diners Club (also a Citibank card, BTW). They have some of the best point-to-miles conversions, and are certainly prestigious enough, if that sort of thing makes a difference. Acceptance can be a little spotty, however.

Your Alaska card is not entirely useless. I like it for all of Alaska's partner airlines, including AA. I use its card even though I rarely fly Alaska.

For lots of other suggestions, take a look at the Credit Cards page of my web site below.

Thanks guys. Am considering the AA for a personal card. Would really like to get Visa so I can cash in on any bonuses. Pgary. Good site, But the AS card is kinda expensive just for the miles. $85 for the Platinum and $50 for the regular. (Compared to $30 for the Starwood Amex which is a much better card. But that is AMEX with limited acceptance)

Opinions on HHonors Visa?

HHonors Visa is good only if you frequent Hilton hotels...

There is no fee for 6 months with 10K sign up bonus AA MC card. Search AA forum for the link. If the annual fee is a major issue, you could convert no annual fee AA MC card after 6 months. Only downside is that card earns 0.5 mile per $ charged...
