Starwood/Inside Flyer 2500 Pt. Promotion CHART

Below is a GENERAL overview of how SPGs can be redeemed via Randy's www.insideflyer.com/starwood promotion through end of April. Check your airline programs for specific award redemption details.

Chart below is based on 1:1 SPG point/airline mile conversion and 5K bonus for every 20K SPGs redeemed.

With unlimited mileage earning possibilities, you can amass your own warchest of mileage to cover your travel for years without the drudgery of flying or the jumping through crazy hoops like the Pudding or Kellogs promos, Latin Pass Million Mile promo or conga lines. Plus, the cost per point/mile is extremely cost-effective.

I guess I'm missing something. At best, this "deal" provides miles at 1.92 cents each. That's decent, but surely not in the same league as pudding, cereal, or magazines.

MileKing-

If you have the time to scramble for the Eggos/Pudding/etc., more power to ya. For most, the convenience of just 'writing the check' one stop shopping is very intriguing.

And remember the QF deal good on QF/A/BA is .096 cents per mile.

Three thoughts regarding that last post:

1) This one is MUCH easier than pudding, cereal, or magazines.

2) Starpoints are worth much more than miles, IMO, and so that's what's the best value for me with this deal.

3) Qantas gives 2 for 1 on starpoints, so that becomes a pretty good deal.

Using the example above, for $480, you can use the 20k SPG points to claim only one of the "*" items. 20k SPG points doesn't get you all three items? You can trade the 20k points for either a Cat 6 night ora 1-way intl upgrade or US coach ticket, not all three. Maybe it is still too early for me this morning, but I just want to make sure I understand the math of the following post:

I am assuming that he is using the points earned via Randy's offer for the F tix, and then he is using additional points he already had for the 5 free nights at the St. Regis, and then he is using one of his Free Weekends for the Danielli.

Thanks.

It may be even better, because if you donate the subscriptions to a charity the cost may be deductible. The US Internal Revenue Service has ruled that miles earned from flying are not considered income. Does anyone (in the tax biz or otherwise well informed) know if miles received from something like this are considered "value" for purposes of reducing the charitable deduction?

I disagree, because for my purposes Starwood points are worth much more than $.02/point.

The one thing nobody has mentioned is this....where can you get 2500 S points for $60.

If you're a gold, and pay $100 a night for a room, you'll get 300 points. If you add the 500 bonus points for online booking, you're only at 800 points. Using this example, you'd have to spend $300 to get 2500 Starpoints.

No problem. I was the one that was wrong after all.
I need to trust more in the information available at my fingertips - my apologies to the training department.

According to the information available to all Starwood Preferred Guest customer service associates, a transfer of 20,000 Starpoints to Qantas will result in 50,000 Qantas airmiles.

I hope that's the last word.

Hi, I jumped on to buy the subscriptions and put in my new starwood number, joined quantis, but no one has told ue neewbies exactly how to convert the points into miles. It is probably a stupid question, do you get membership packs when you join these programs and is there a time limit to when to convert to get the 2 miles per point?

What are these categories to SPG hotels? I went to their website but couldn't find an explanation.

Higher categories are nicer hotels in better/more expensive locations.

If you search for a hotel on the Web site it will tell you what category it is. Also, some of the properties are a higher category or require more points in peak season.
