50,000 Continental Bonus Mile Offer

I am not a OnePass member, but I just got a piece of bulk mail that really made me take notice. Continental is offering 50,000 (yes, 50,000) bonus miles for each full-fare business class flight on their Virgin Atlantic codeshare to London from 9/1 through 12/31, with an additional 5,000 bonus miles to my "executive assistant" for each flight I take. The offer is addressed to "legal professionals" and has a code reading "CG ONE VSLM." I've never seen anything this big. Anyone contemplating traveling to London this fall in business or first should see if they qualify.

For the cost of a Business class ticket to Europe on Virgin or any other carrier, a 50,000 mile bonus is nice, but not much considering the cost of business class ticket.

Anyone who buys Business class tickets should get an Amex Platinum card. You can get a twofer in Business class on a lot of carriers.

Business and First class fares to Europe continue to be a rip off.

Fly coach a few times and you could buy a new car with the fare difference.

No question, you would have to be out of your mind to pay a full business or first class fare to Europe for personal travel. However, for those who travel on business and don't have to pay for the ticket themselves, it's an extraordinary incentive to fly Continental/Virgin.

The negotiated (corporate) rate for
businessfirst to Europe on Continental
is roughly half of the published fare.
Wonder if this qualifies?

this is yet another example of why it is so hard to get a business first award ticket to europe. CO will do anything to fill a seat in the compartment. you can't blame them, but if you are going to invest in onepass, you should a least know what your chances are of using awards.
