VIDEO: Plane Spotter Captures “Flying Saucer” Taking Off With Virgin Atlantic

Footage of a recent Virgin Atlantic flight taking off from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) depicts a cylindrical object soaring past the aircraft — an unidentified flying object, or UFO, according to many who’ve seen the video.  The video was published to LookNowTV earlier this month, and according the site’s manager, “The person that saw this UFO at JFK films planes often and looks to catch UFOs on video” and that there is “no reason to believe this guy is a hoax.”

While many have weighed on the “flying saucer” footage, touting its legitimacy or brushing it off as fake, British UFO expert Russ Kellet is keeping an open-mind. According to Kellet, the object could just be a bird or another plane in the background, but whatever it is: “There should be nothing getting that close to an aircraft … it could be anything.”

"UFO expert" keeps an open mind the patients are running the asylum now. “There should be nothing getting that close to an aircraft..." How could anyone derive the distance of an unknown object from its 2D projection? What have I missed during my PhD? If that is Vader's Star Destroyer cranking up toward hyperspace it is likely hundreds of miles away.

"According to Kellet, the object could just be a bird or another plane in the background, but whatever it is: “There should be nothing getting that close to an aircraft … it could be anything.”" Since you can't tell how far the UFO is from the 747, it's silly for Kellet to make this claim. Kellet isn't the "big haired alien dude" on the History Channel, by chance?

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it a lens reflection? Yes, it's a UFO, in that it's a flying object that we haven't identified. Most likely a bird.
