UA Mechanics to Vote on Proposed Labor Agreement

United Airlines’ mechanics union has announced plans to have a membership vote on the terms of a new tentative labor contract from the carrier. The union, which represents about 9,000 mechanics working for the airline, will be voting on their first joint labor contract since United’s merger with Continental Airlines.

A spokesperson for United said that they are “glad our technicians will have the opportunity to vote for a new contract.” In February, members of the union unanimously rejected a prior proposed labor contract offered by United, singling out inferior wages and a lack of benefits for mechanics hired on or after the date that the contract had been finalized by the carrier.
