New Measure Requires Airlines to Refund Baggae Fees

According to consumerist, a new measure signed into law in July will force airlines to “promptly provide to a passenger an automated refund for any ancillary fees paid by the passenger for checked baggage.” Specifically, the compensation is to be provided if the luggage has not made its way to the owner within 12 hours of the arrival of his/her domestic flight or 15 hours if flying internationally. Flyers must notify the airline of their situation to get the reimbursement.

12 hours? How about 20 minutes? Alaska Airlines (all on its own, not needing any law) has a 20 minute bag guarantee: https://www.alaskaair.com/content/travel-info/baggage/baggage-claim/20-minute-guarantee.aspx
