Emirates Bats Around Idea of Budget Economy Seating

Emirates is in the process of researching whether or not the creation of a budget economy cabin with smaller seating and lower prices would sufficiently tap into a potential customer base.

“The fact of the matter is there is a whole stream of new market segments coming in that are budget conscious,” said airline president Tim Clark. “I think we can adapt what we do to be able to accommodate not all of it, but some of it.”

Clark went on to say that budget economy passengers would likely still receive free meals aboard flights.

All for it, if it helps keeping those A380 filled so that I can enjoy my shower up the front ;-)

How on earth can the seats get even smaller? Surely they can't possibly be going to 11-across (3-5-3)?

Smaller seating? Seriously? Anyone who hasn't experienced the 10 across seating on their 777s on a long haul flight doesn't know the true meaning of the words "cramped" and "eternity". If they make the seating any tighter half the passengers will be suffering from DVT before the flight is over.
