AA Mechanics Stage Wrigley Field Protest for Fair Union Contracts

On Sunday, mechanics and fleet service workers employed by American Airlines protested outside Wrigley Field, the home stadium of the airline’s official baseball team, the Chicago Cubs. Workers protested the airline’s plan to outsource maintenance work to contractors outside of the United States in order to turn a profit.

“They want to outsource a bunch of our de-icing work, the baggage handlers that de-ice your aircraft. And we want to make sure the public understands that we are the best and safest and most trained employees in the industry,” said union president Timothy Murphy.
