The Roosevelt New Orleans - October, 2021 - Booked through Amex FH&R

Booked a great, 3 nights for the price of 2 deal ($980, after taxes & fees were included) in a 2 Queen Suite and received the following credits:

- Daily breakfast for two ($60/day),

- Hilton Honors Gold credit ($50/day)

- Amex FH&R credit ($100 total)

In total, booking through Amex netted $430 in free money!  Spent all but about $5 of it, thanks to a last-minute shopping spree through the gift shop!

Check In

Check In was uneventful.  Staff was friendly and helpful in answering questions, but nothing spectacular.  A solid "average" rating for the check in."

Room

There were no room upgrades available, due to a wedding party (per the front desk).  Fortunately, we had booked the 2 Queen Suite and I was 100% satisfied with the room.  It was every inch of the advertised 800 sq ft - had two bathrooms, a spacious living room area, and the beds were comfortable.  We were on the 6th floor, so the view was nothing to write home about, but we were definitely pleased with the overall room quality!

Service

Service was great.  As I said, check in was average, but it improved from that point.  All staff - gift shop attendant, concierge, waiters - were professional and helpful.  Very prompt to address any issues.  For example, the primary refrigerator in our suite seemed to no longer be cooling.  I called the front desk, maintenance had a quick look, and a new fridge was brought to the room within an hour.  Housekeeping was great, as well!

Dining

Food was very good!  Breakfast was included daily and, through FH&R, we received a $60 breakfast credit per stay.  Breakfast was served in the Fountain Lounge and, for me, typically consisted of mixed fruit, eggs, home fries, sausage, and - most importantly - beignets with chocolate dipping sauce... yum!  We also spent a bit of the FH&R / Hilton Honors credit in Teddy's cafe - basically a coffee shop / patisserie, where we had wonderful fruit tartes, opera cake, pain au chocolat, meringue, macarons, and all sorts of cookies.  We had one dinner in the Fountain Lounge, to burn through some of our credit and because we were feeling lazy, but it was nothing to write home about - not bad, not great.

Location

Location was great!  Right in the Central Business District, on Canal street, with easy access to the French Quarter, the Warehouse District, and the trolley.

Overall

Overall, I would absolutely take advantage of this deal again.  I was a bit freaked out when I read some bad reviews online, but we genuinely had a great experience.  The Roosevelt is not an over-the-top, insane, "anticipate my needs before I think them" type of luxury hotel - but we thought it was certainly a fanastic hotel.  Most importantly, it served the purpose that we had in mind: to be a home base / refuge after busy days of exploring the city.
