Room 325
- Stats
I stayed here for two nights, and I was overall pleased with the hotel. It's a solid offering for the price, and if you're not looking for luxury, consider a stay.
Check In
The hotel is a quick walk from Tokyo station, and occupies the first few floors of an office building. Check in occurs on the fourth floor, which also contains a fridge of complimentary beverages for Gold and Platinum members.
Check-in itself was quick. I had sent my suitcase to the hotel to arrive ahead of me, and the hotel was able to quickly retrieve it and sent to my room, #325. I was also given tickets for breakfast as well as information for the evening happy hour.
Room
The room is solid for the price you end up paying, and is adequate for a business hotel. As a solo traveler I felt that I had enough space, but if I was traveling with another person it would probably be a tad tight. The room and bathroom were clean and well-maintained, and the mini-fridge was re-stocked daily with 2 bottles of water.
Power was regulated by one of those card slots, where you have to keep a key inside for the power to turn on. Thankfully, any card would work so I was able to use an old card to keep the power on.
Service
Both of my service interactions with the hotel were pleasant. For the first, I asked the concierge to assist me with making a haircut appointment. They made a few calls and were able to do so. The haircut went fine, with no surprises, and I'm happy with the place they selected.
The second was completely my fault, and the hotel bailed me out. I had forgotten my HDMI cable in my room before checking out. When I later realized my mistake, I called the hotel. They put me on hold to inquire about whether housekeeping had found anything, but I quickly realized that the roaming charges were soon going to cost more than the cable itself, so I hung up. About an hour later, I received an email letting me know that they found the cable and that I could pick it up at my leisure. When I arrived at the front desk again, everything went smoothly.
Service at the Lavarock cafe was pleasant.
Dining
For a gold or platinum member, the hotel really does offer a crazy amount of free food. The bad news it that it's not very good. The evening happy hour is well-catered, with a nice selection of beverages and some light snacks. I was heading to Kyubey later that evening, so I just had a few fries, which were exactly what you'd expect.
The breakfast was a little weirder. They had a standard buffett selection for a business hotel, along with some hot egg options. I ordered my usual eggs bendict, and what I got was a little weird. The hollandaise was fine, the eggs were overcooked, but the oddest part was the bread. It was served on toasted slices of baguette, and not an english muffin. There were english muffins available in the buffet line, so it seems like it was an intentional decision, albeit an odd one. Oh well.
Location
I was pleased with the location, it's close to Tokyo Station, and just a block from an entrance to Kyobashi station. You're also in walking distance of Ginza, Tsukiji Market, and the Imperial Palace.
