Stats

LT Titanium - Booked with points, and used suite upgrades, 2 adults and 2 children (6yr and 3yr olds)

Just returned from 5 nights on points at the Sheraton Suites Key West. Overall this was a good stay with several buyer be where items that came up during the stay.

Overall

Overall - We had a really nice weekend, the weather helped because it was hot and that is what we were looking for. The service was really nice, the rooms were ok, the pool was good, but I think if we were to go back to Key West, I would probably try out the Fairfield (free breakfast) or the FS Marriott, just to see the differences.

Location

Location - First off the location of this hotel is far away from the hustle and bustle of Key West (Duval St, etc). It's 4 minutes from the airport which is convient but its about 10 minutes from most restaurants and attactions. The benefit of this hotel is that it is quiet at night from city sounds, other guests may add to the noise but not too much regular noise. The beach is right across the street which was nice for morning and evening walks, but they charge for chairs and umbrellas ($20-$40), plus the ocean around the entire island is very rocky. Something we didn't know going in. And right now there is Seaweed EVERYWHERE.

Service

Service - People seemed overall very nice and helpful. The restaurant staff was great, check in agents seemed to be newer, but wanted to try and help as much as possible. The shuttle drivers were awesome. Shuttle schedule has lots of options and gets you down right into the heart of the island. We were glad we had rented a car just because it was hot and the kids didn't also want to wait for the shuttle. And the concerige was great to work with.

Room

Room - Used suite upgrades to go from a standard room to a 2 queen bed suite. The rooms are ok, lots of storage area which is good. The couch is nice but the pull out bed is very uncomfortable. The shower is great, but the window blinds were aging and didn't work. Nice refridgerator that we stocked with Water we purchased from Publix (again about a 10 minute drive to find a grocery store) The airconditioning worked really well, which was good because the outside team was over 90 everyday.

Dining

Food - The restaurant options are tasty, but expensive in general. Being a Titanium member, gave us free continental breakfast with a $6 upgrade to hot food. The 4th morning the hotel had changed it menu and now the free breakfasts included all the buffet. Definitely a perk.

Pool

Pool - Pool was really good. But I enjoy a warmer pool. The heat of the day warmed the pool up so sometimes it was in the 80s maybe even lower 90s but was fun for all of us. The pool was so warm that you didn't really even need to go over to the Hot Tub. Not sure the jets were working in the hot tub either, but didn't really ask.

Bill

Receipt - Hardest thing about this location is the resort fee. My resort fee was $37/day plus tax. That was STEEP consider the construction going on and beaches being hard to use with all of the rocks and seaweed. So the paddle boards and snorkel gear rarely if ever gets used so it seems more like a way to keep the rate per night under $400 a night. (Other family traveling with us, had a $350/night rate, and a $25/person/night resort fee, YIKES.
