Check In

I had booked Deluxe Room with Partial Lake View, and was upgraded a few days before the stay to Executive Room with Lake View. The original booking already included spa access; not all rooms do.Check-in was very friendly, we were given two bottles of Évian water (of course) and some local tea.

Room

The room was on the top, sixth floor. Executive lounge is on the sixth floor as well, at the western end of the floor. The room had a nice-sized balcony and gorgeous views over Lake Geneva. King-sized bed, and the bathroom had both walk-in shower and bathtub. It seemed the room had been at least refreshed at some point, there were no visible nicks/marks etc. that some previous reviews highlighted.

The biggest drawback was scarcity of electric sockets, although there was one wireless charging station on the nightstand.

Service

Throughout our stay the service was very friendly and mostly efficient. This applied to the front desk, restaurant, Executive Lounge and the spa.

Dining

Breakfast was served only in the restaurant, not in the Executive lounge (which opened at 7 am, but there was only coffee etc.). I found the offerings on par with other European Hiltons. Good selection of local cheeses etc. In mid-May some people already wanted to sit outside, where birds were constantly vying for one's food.

Aperitifs were served in the Executive lounge from 5 to 7 pm. Food offerings were not terribly exciting, but the soup was OK. The only beer was non-alcoholic Heineken. Yes, France is not exactly a beer country, but still... Sparkling wine was actually very good. Red wine, not so good. Also hard alcohol available. Lounge has a large terrace with outstanding views.

Location

The hotel is almost directly on Lake Geneva, only narrow road and sliver of park separates it from the lake. Lots of restaurants etc. within 10 minutes' walk in the town.

Spa & pool

Hotel has a relatively large spa with treatment rooms, sauna, steam bath as well as indoor and outdoor pool. The latter is also accessible from outside. Some hotel rooms include spa access, and at least in principle people from outside the hotel can buy access too. The outdoor pool is relatively large for a hotel pool, and it was pretty deserted in mid-May. Many more people wanted to hang around the smaller indoor pool. Outside pool is warmed to 28C and it is pretty shallow (0.9 m to 1.3 m).

Overall

Some common areas are obviously in need of refreshment, but at least my room was in a good shape. Breakfast was pretty good, I really liked the local cheeses etc. Service was good, location excellent (if you want to be in the area, of course). Parking is under the hotel in a public garage.
