Hooray! This has been a good year for us with Wyndham. Thanks for the post =)

Interesting promotion. I'm on the fence about this one. I completed the last one; paid a little below $90 for both stays, obtained gold status and will use the points towards a $179/room (before taxes). Basically getting that room for half off, so that made sense to me at the time.

If this promo was the same stay twice get 15,000 points I'd be much more inclined to do it.

I agree with you. I would also participate if this was 15,000 points for 2 stays.

great promo, too bad Europeans cant participate :/

cab747 Nov 5, 2017 8:22 pm

Any experience if I can book two different hotels the same night, check in for both, and it counts as two stays? I found a $14 and $15 rate in Vegas with the $10 off app code, and I'd book a room at both hotels to earn the VISA checkout bonus and hotel stay. That's 3K (VISA checkout stay 1) + 5K (VISA checkout stay 2) + 1K (room 1) + 1K (room 2) = 10K points for $69!

sdsearch Nov 6, 2017 8:48 am

I found this to be the confusing part:
"Visa Checkout is not available for payment when a booking is made through WyndhamRewards.com."
Indeed, you can't use Visa Checkout at WyndhamReward.com. You have to pull up the Visa Checkout promo page there, then click the "book now" button from the Visa Checkout promo page, and it takes you to brand new website (which I've never seen before) with a totally different look (and which requires a separate login) and only there can you use Visa Checkout.

And once you use Visa Checkout there's no indication on the screen that you used it (it populates the credit card you used in the normal credit card field).

This is the part that I don't like. It was the same way for the MasterPass promo. There's no indication on the screen that you used it! My points posted for both of my stays though. I'm thinking there may be some trigger or indication on the backend if the MasterPass or Visa Checkout was used.

JustDandy Nov 17, 2017 9:10 pm

Has anyone completed any stays and have their points post for this promo yet? I know the last one there was some time in between them posting.

As a side note, I've decided to do this offer after all. Originally my travel plans had me cutting about even, so I was on the fence. But then, the destination(s) changed a bit and the value of the promos doubled themselves in value. Calculating right around a 64% savings for 3 nights. That's worth it, for me. Will throw in my data points, once I have them!

Points and cash ?

Anyone know or tried for a points and cash booking and did it work?

1. If you read directly above your post, you'll see that no one has reported the bonus posting on any stay yet!

2. Post 1 above has the T&C, which says you only earn on a Qualifying Stay. A Qualifying Stay (for the purpose of earning points, not for the purpose of elite status) does not include any kind of reward stay. And a points + cash stay is considered an award stay, not a paid stay, so it wouldn't be a Qualifying Stay for this promotion.

3. Visa Checkout does not work on WyndhamRewards.com. So can you even pay the cash portion of a points + cash stay with Visa Checkout? Don't you have to book a points + cash stay at WyndhamRewards.com?

JustDandy Nov 30, 2017 5:01 pm

No one has stayed with Wyndham using this promo yet? Don't see any data points posted yet. :(

Quick question, for anyone who may know. I have read that you can buy up to 5,000 points per year. Is that calendar year? Example: Buy 5,000 points on 12/28/2017. Then you can buy another 5,000 points on 1/1/2018. Or does it count from the time you buy a year?

I've made 2 stays so far. One stay was 1 day into the promo, nothing posted yet.

I have my first stay under the promo next week, the second stay the week after that. The third stay will be in January sometime, but the third one I haven't booked yet.

It is probably too early, but has anyone been successful in booking this promo through a cashback portal and receive the cashback ?
(I was successful with the summer promotion).

I received the cash back when I did masterpass promo a few months ago. So I think it is likely to work fine with visa promo.

eethan Dec 21, 2017 8:41 pm

A needlessly complicated promo

An hour before checking into Harrahs, they send me an email saying that they don't have my payment info. Since I need to use visa checkout, I call wyndham, but they have no idea where I booked and whether I used visa checkout.

WR manager insists I need to book thru the app, so she helps me cancel and waives penalty. But I check the promo page and see I had originally booked correctly on Wyndhamhotels.com.

Can someone confirm: Caesars properties booked on Wyndhamhotels.com and using visa checkout qualify?

I make screenshots of every booking, in order to be able to fight with Wyndham over the promos if necessary.
Doing so, saved me many promo-points !

DaveH Jan 3, 2018 1:16 pm

Bump. Did anyone receive their Visa checkout points yet?

synergistic Jan 3, 2018 2:48 pm

None here, for stays on the 10th, 11th,and 13th of December. Hopefully they appear without chasing, we had good luck with the MC version of the promo.

jackal Jan 11, 2018 5:09 pm

Still no points here and I did my three stays around Thanksgiving (11/21, 11/22, and 11/25). I was about to contact them but thought I'd check this thread first to see if anyone else had gotten credit.

Had no issues getting points credited automatically with the MasterPass promo...

jebr Jan 12, 2018 2:26 pm

I've yet to receive any of the credits; however, my first visit wasn't until the end of December (12/29.)

DaveH Jan 15, 2018 9:32 pm

Mine still have not posted, including a stay from mid-november. I was told to follow up after two months. Will plan to call shortly and report back.

sdsearch Jan 16, 2018 1:53 pm

I wouldn't be surprised if they have to run a one-time "sweep" (after the promotion is over) to correlate multiple databases to figure out who used Visa Checkout for what reservation and did they actually do the stay on that reservation.

Promos which requires "sweeps" typically take much longer to post than "simple" promos which don't require checking multiple databases.

This is a very weird kind of promo (for a hotel program), because (at least for cancellable reservations) the Visa Checkout has no effect on the actual method of payment (which is handled by the hotel), just on they method of "securing" the reservation.

All fixed. :)

Spoke with Natalie at the Diamond line. After about eight min on hold, she came back saying that they now needed only 4-6 weeks, not 8 weeks, to post these bonuses manually. They did have a tracking spreadsheet showing that all 3 of my stays did indeed get booked using Visa checkout. And she was able to get all 3 bonuses, totaling 15K points, posted right away (last stay was Dec 9-10).

jebr Jan 18, 2018 3:16 pm

It looks like one of my stays posted automatically. I don't think the other one will post, as the hotel cancelled my reservation on me and re-instated a room rate from when they were a Best Western instead of the Days Inn booking with the Visa Checkout tied to it. That was one of the smaller issues with that stay, though...

Travelomania Jan 20, 2018 2:26 pm

Visa Promo

All my Visa-promo-points posted without any hiccups on January 18th - within 2 weeks since the last stay ^

jackal Jan 20, 2018 3:59 pm

Mine did as well, also on the 18th.

The 18th must have been when they did their sweep.

My bonuses for my first 2 stays all posted on the 18th.

The must be planning a second sweep at some point (presumably after the promo ends?), because the promo continues until Jan 31, and my 3rd stay isn't until this coming week.

jrobinson5 Jan 31, 2018 2:14 am

I stayed twice in January for 10k points. Now I'm trying to decide whether to do a mattress run at a cheap Days Inn to get another 8k points for $56.

Well, if you're going use GoFree awards, then it's simple: Do you expect to pay more then about $110 (including taxes) for hotel you'll redeem those 8k points plus anotehr 7k points? If so, then you make money at $56, though it depends how much over a $110ish you expect your redemption to be as to how much money you make at $56.

(8k x 2 is a bit over 15k, and $56 time 2 is a bit over $110. Plujs I'm not clear you meant $56 before or after taxes.)

Unfortunately, if you're going to use those points for GoFast, awards, AFAIK it's pretty impossible to calculate, because they're so all over the place in value from one hotel to the next (in terms of the cash copay), while GoFree is fixed at 15k program-wide so is extremely simply to calculate.

eethan Feb 5, 2018 5:38 pm

I called a supervisor since my Dec stay at Harrahs still hadn't posted. She claimed that this promo had ended early, in mid Jan. I didn't need to argue with her on that, and just pointed out that my stay was in Dec. In the end, she had to manually award me goodwill points since their computers are too messed up to recognize Caesar's properties booked under the promo.

Now, on 1-30, I booked one more stay in late Feb. That should qualify right, or was the agent correct about the promo ending early?

synergistic Feb 6, 2018 9:28 pm

I did not automatically receive credit for stays on 30 and 31 Jan - and in fact, the promo link had disappeared from the website by then, replaced by an ad for the now-current 15k for two stays promotion. It didn't yet have a link to T&Cs, nor could I register for that one. The old screenshots I have from the T&Cs said that I should have been good since I booked those nights before the end of January, but we'll see if Wyndham agrees.

May I ask when you booked that stay? I called in re: this and was told I was out of luck because I booked it after the 18th - but there is talk in the other thread of folks who had made the bookings before the 18th still being told they'll get them. If you booked it later and get a friendlier resolution than I did, I'd love to know about it.

I booked the stay on Jan 25th and have two more coming up in 1 week.

larsbutzmann Feb 21, 2018 9:28 am

I just completed the 2 stays and received the 15k for the "Stay Twice, Get a FREE Night" promo. I don't wanna complain about the bonus points, but I wanted to use that promo later and was hoping to use the initial promo.
I will wait until the month is over before I reach out to the platinum service desk.

Has anyone had the same issue with overlapping promos?

larsbutzmann Mar 2, 2018 3:43 pm

I found a surprise in my account today! I got the Visa Promo points for my stay I booked on Jan 25th and completed on Jan 28th.
My other two stays didn't post yet, but the 15k two nights bonus posted instead. I will wait a few more weeks to see what happens before I reach out to the team.

Did anyone else get their Visa Promo points for stays after Jan 18th?
