Downsides to using gift cards to pay?
Just wondering if there are any downsides to using WS gift cards to buy tickets? Looking at an itinerary with the current 15% off fares (ends tonight). There's a PC Optimum promotion at Loblaw's umbrella stores for 10,000 PCO pts (basically $10) for every $100 gift card purchase (also ends tonight). Was looking at buying enough GCs to cover the fare.

I believe there's a limit of 1 WS gift card per transaction, so it might be annoying to use up all of your gift cards quickly. Obviously it depends on how often you fly WS and how expensive your tickets usually are.
The WS credit card doesn't require the ticket to be bought with the credit card - it just needs to be attached to your FF number when you fly.

So bought 2 GCs for $400 ($80 of PCO points posted immediately) and used just under the whole amount per card.

In my experience for cancelling a econo flex fare using a gift card you cannot do this via the website. You need to call in. Then the monies go into a travel bank and not back to the gift card. YMMV
