Boeing Factor Tours - Everett

Hi All,

I am planning a trip to Seattle with a visit to the Boeing Factory in mind (main purpose of the trip).

Just wondering

1) How do I get there from SEA and how far
2) Should I stay in a hotel in SEA downtown (which I also want to visit) and then get a bus/train/taxi there?
3) Are there anything special I need to be aware of

Finally, anyone did the tour before? Will be great if you can share your experience?

Slightly OT, in Seattle, do they have a Starbucks tour?

Thanks

It's in Everett, around 30-40 min. from downtown Seattle. It's mainly oriented to access by car; however if you don't have one you probably would benefit from using the Grey Line tour from downtown Seattle - leaves from the Sheraton. http://www.graylineseattle.com/sight...roduct_id/1318

I think you'd be happier staying in central Seattle. There are a couple of hotels close to the Boeing plant, but they're comparatively difficult to access without a car. One nice one is the Silver Cloud Inn at Mukilteo - http://scinns.com/12home.htm - built over the water next to the ferry terminal, and they have a shuttle to the Boeing plant. There are buses (nuisance connections) from the ferry terminal to Seattle.

While in the area you really should also visit the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field in south Seattle. http://www.museumofflight.org/

Starbucks tours - not that I know of, but the original Starbucks is in the Pike Place Market.

Many thanks

Just wondering what other places would you recommend in SEA? In particular restaurants and sights?

Thanks

Did the tour today.

We got to see the 747-800 Cargo, 777 and 787 Assembly lines (from the gallery only, of course).

Very cool, and there was some sort of vintage airshow going on at the same time, so I got to walk around a Catalina, a P-51 and assorted other warbirds ^

Would definitely do this again, and maybe combine it with the Boeing Field tour as well. @:-)

How long should I plan for getting up to Everett and back, and doing the tour? I have one day in Seattle and a really early flight out - I was thinking of staying downtown but if I need to rent a car (would be on a Sunday) I would prefer to be closer to the airport. And somewhere with no parking fee.

From DT Seattle, I'd allow at least 35-45 minutes on a Sunday to drive. Tour itself I think is about 1- 1 1/2 hrs so allow yourself 2 1/2 hours there. 45-60 mins to drive bac.

What I'd do is find the cheapest net rental DT Seattle returning to SEA. Go priceline yourself a 3* hotel at SEA. Return the car to SEA, take shuttle to the hotel. No hassles/worries about returning next day, or parking fees.

I did the Boeing tour while in the Seattle area a few years ago. Stayed at the Marriott on the waterfront and the tour bus picked up at the hotel (made the rounds). I really enjoyed the Boeing tour! We did some sort of combo thing, and went to a winery afterwards.

We did rent a car for a day (from the Hilton), drove down to the Museum of Flight, also great. Then continued south, drove along the Tacoma waterfront, and over the Narrows bridge, to Bremerton, and took the ferry back to Seattle. The views from the water are amazing; the clouds opened up and got a great view of Mt Ranier.

I'll add that I spent a year and a half in the army at Ft Lewis in the early 90s, so I knew some of the area.
