SF Giants Spring Training

Have any of you SF Giants fans attended Spring Training in Scottsdale, AZ? Can you tell me if you stayed in any Starwood or Marriott properties? Also any hints about where to eat, etc. TIA!

OK, first warning... be prepared to pay. The hotels all run quite expensive during this period. The JW Camelback is very nice, and I personally like the Renaissance Scottsdale (they are liberal with upgrades.) The Marriott Suites in Scottsdale is closer to the stadium. I didn't particularly care for the Marriott McDowell Mountain property.

I try to stay away from downtown Scottsdale (i.e. the tourist area) for meals. Head north or south on Scottsdale Road a couple of miles from the stadium to find some other options. Really depends on what you want to do and where you want to eat. What are you preferences; I may be able to provide some guidance.

Thanks for the info. We love seafood and Mexican food--actually anything--not picky.

One of the closest hotel to the stadium is the Courtyaed Marriott Old Town (about 2-3 blocks). It is in fact the team hotel, so I don't know what kind of availability they might have on your desired dates.

For a family-run no-frills-but-good Mexican place, the Tee Pee on Indian School Road is just a few miles away.

Another great hotel is the Hilton Garden Inn (Indian School Road). Its walking distance to the Scottsdale stadium and a nice hotel.

And there are a ton of good places to eat in the Old Town and Scottsdale Fashion Mall (both just 1-2 minutes away).

I actually started looking at times and hotels today.

And as az_misman said, be prepared to pay.

I was just checking rates for the Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton Inn in Scottsdale (both walking distance to the Scottsdale Stadium) around the Mar 10th weekend and:
Hilton Garden: $289 / night
Hampton Inn: $159 / night.

Ouch...

Happy to report I've booked 4 free award (2 Hampton/2 Sheraton) nights during Spring Training in PHX 3/5-9/06. Best use of points by planning ahead I've ever executed. Anticipating acknowledgement for two free dinners at Roy's and Ruth's.
