Visiting the new A concourse
New new tenants of the A concourse are American, ATA, Delta, Frontier, Hawaiian, and Sun Country. If you don't fly these airlines (I usually fly AS or UA), then the only opportunity you'll have to visit this concourse is Saturday June 12--when there's an open house. Once the concourse opens for business, it'll be restricted to passengers of the above airlines.
Interesting that DL and AA will be shifting. This probably means that their ticketing counters will shift as well (given that most of the international airlines are vacating to their new digs in the new South Terminal--which should be complete by April 15th). Will any FTers be there on June 12th? |
There is good news: all concourses - A, B, C, D, N & S will be connected once the central security checkpoint opens in April (A concourse will be accessible once it opens for business on June 15); it will be possible to check out the A Concourse even if you are departing from the North Satellite.
Still recommend trying to make the open house - should be a good event. |
I read that there'd we a central security checkpoint, but I'm scratching my head as to how they're going to "leap" over the central terminal's construction. Is there going to be a long non-descript hallway between the B and C concourse?
|
That is my understanding of the plan - from April 2004 (when the central checkpoint opens) thru early 2005 (when the Central Terminal project is complete) - there will be a corridor leading from the central checkpoint to the B & C concourses (allowing circulation between A,B,S & C, D, N)

I really wanted to go visit the new terminal as I usually fly UA from SEA. Any idea what time the open house will be? If it's in the evening, I'll be there!!! If it's in the morning, I'll have to pass since I'm graduating from UW and it's on the SAME DATE. Can't miss my graduation. http://www.flyertalk.com/airports/ft...orum/smile.gif
It's nice to have a central check point. |
Well, looks like the central security checkpoint will not open until June 1st now  The ticketing level of the new main terminal addition opened today, however the baggage claim level and the new skybridge from the parking garage also will not open until June.

So, with the South Security now moved upstairs, I presume the security downstairs is being removed, moving us one step closer to the reactivation of the North-South train. Any updates on when that train will start rolling again with passengers? It'll be nice for those who can Elite-security through at N but who are flying out of A, etc.
Speaking of which, now that everything will be connected, ones Southwest Rapid Rewards card is even more useful, allowing for elite access to any section of the airport. Are they going to start accepting all elite cards at all checkpoints, I hope? hamburgler |
The removal of the old south satellite security checkpoint and renovation of the train station has begun - the renovation will be complete and the north terminal-south terminal connecting train will be operational in June.
Regarding the elite lines - I have the same question - I need to research the answer. Elite members of any airline should be able to use the elite line at any checkpoint once all concourses are linked but the idea sounds too logical to be implemented :p |
I'd hope they have multiple elite lines, then. :)

All concourses now connected post-security!
I just returned from watching the first flight arrive at the new A Concourse (a Delta flight) and can confirm (since I walked it) that all concourses are now connected post-security :) The hallways have a temporary look since they will be replaced next year by the new central terminal expansion.
I will check out the elite line situation tomorrow (looking to see if an elite can use the elite lines at any security checkpoint). |

Who is taking over the old Crown Room space in the "B" Terminal?
I heard Delta was putting in a new Crown Room in the "A" Terminal. Has anybody heard who is taking over the old Crown Room space in the "B" Terminal?

Any update on this? I know that there is a Continental PC in Concourse B, but am curous about the old CRC space also. |
This is a late addition to this thread and may be my point has been recognized already. While you can't go out and inspect the new A concourse without an outbound ticket etc., you certainly can take a detour when deboarding at any concourse either walking the concourses, or using the North-South shuttle train. I had some time to spare a month or so ago and made the whole trip--it does seem a very long distance to the last gate (somewhere in the vicinity of Tacoma :) , but the overall impression is one of light and air and it is a very attractive addition. Now they have to improve B and C, and maybe D.
