I heard that US Airways will be moving from the A concourse (temporarily the S satellite) to the N satellite--in keeping with their new marketing alliance with UA. Anyone else heard this?
I know that SK moved there as well but it turned out to be a terrible decision because customs and immigration obviously wouldn't move from S to N and it seemed silly for people to check-in at the main terminal north whether they'd clear security at the main terminal south.
I suppose this means that ground handling of US will now be handled by UA.

My understanding is that the move will take place in September; right now US Airways is down to only 5 departures per day so the flights can be easily accommodated at the North Satellite

Actually, I don't see how this is an issue. People on the UA flight to NRT depart from the North Terminal and Arrive at the South Terminal.<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Originally posted by corwinsl:

The real issue (if it is one) of SAS being in the North Terminal would be the ferrying of the A340 from the South Terminal where Customs & Immigration is, to the North Terminal for the departing flight. Is a 2h10m layover enough time?

UPDATE: If all goes according to plan US Airways will be moving at the end of the month (9/30). Ticket counters will be located at the north end of the terminal (already being set up - United lost 7 counter positions [actually less because the new replacement counters have a smaller footprint]); gates will be at the North Satellite
Good, because otherwise US pax would literally have to walk from the airport's southernmost point (current check-in counter) to its northernmost (gates).

Yes, the move took place last night (checked it out today) - from the Port website:
"US Airways has moved its ticket counter from the south end of the Main Terminal to the far north end, next to the United Airlines counter. US Airways flights now depart from the North Satellite and the airline uses Carousel 15 at the far north end of Baggage Claim."
